"Widening the Circle"

Rev. Strecker and Participants

in the

Transgender Inclusion Workshop Series

June is PRIDE month; celebrating the many ways people express gender and sexuality in our culture - many of which transcend cultural norms; male and female. Learning from each other and expanding our understanding of the full range of human experience is an important way Unitarian Universalists can honor the worth and dignity of all people. Finding a spiritual home where you feel seen in the fullness of your humanity is what being a Welcoming Congregation is really all about. The UUA is inviting congregations to recommit to widening their circle of inclusion. We’ll hear from ideas about how NSUU might do that from participants in a workshop series of Transgender Inclusion in Congregations.

Share the Plate will be for the Danvers High School group, Prism.

New Members

During last Sunday's events, Sam and Samantha Piro signed the Northshore Church membership book. Please join us as we welcome our new members, Sam and Sam, at this Sunday's service.

"Rise Up Singing"

Join us on June 18th for a very special service “Rise Up Singing: Spiritual and Gospel Music.” Our last official service of the year will be an opportunity to reflect on the history behind this type of music and time to actually sing many of them. The Singing Group will lead us in singing some of the selections and, in addition, members of the Essex Harmony Choral Group will also share their voices. In spite of all the heaviness that comes with this reflection, we’ll have the wonderful experience of being lifted up by our singing and hearing these precious songs throughout the service.

To attend the Sunday service via Zoom,

Dear NSUU Members,

I am looking forward to beginning a church year together in August! You are most welcome as guests at my ordination ceremony coming up later this month. Please see the invitation below and RSVP if you would like to attend.

All best,

Caro Barschow

 -----------------------------------------------------

I am in awe that this day is nearly here. This ordination ceremony will bring together folks from around New England (and farther afield via Zoom) to affirm my ministry. This will be a celebration of the power of community and the journey of spiritual growth. The UU Nashua choir will sing, a handful of wonderful spiritual leaders will share wisdom and I hope you will sing and witness, too!

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashua and The First Parish in Portland, Maine Unitarian-Universalist will ordain Caro Barschow to Unitarian Universalist ministry in a ceremony on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 3pm ET.

The ceremony will take place at the UU Church of Nashua (58 Lowell St. Nashua, NH 03064) and on Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/606344193).

A reception will take place after the ceremony at the UU Church of Nashua.

Please RSVP to indicate whether you will join via Zoom or in-person.

RELIGIOUS PROFESSIONAL PROCESSION/ATTIRE Religious professionals in Unitarian Universalist and other traditions (ordained and non-ordained) are welcome to process into the sanctuary for the ceremony of ordination. If you’d like to be part of the procession, arrive between 2-2:30p and proceed to the Campbell Chapel.

Religious attire (robes, stoles, etc.) is welcome and encouraged, unless the high temperature is forecast at 82 degrees or above for this day, as the sanctuary is not air conditioned.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTES

The sanctuary and reception area are wheelchair accessible, with wheelchair accessible parking. There is a hearing assistance device system and PA. The church is not air conditioned, so it’s possible the summer temperatures will make it warm that day. Please contact Ruth Cannava at rcannava@botcave.org for additional accessibility requirements.

TRAVELING NOTES

If attending in-person, please allow extra time for parking at our downtown city church. The street address of the church is not the best to navigate via GPS to parking lot locations. Please see below for better addresses.

Free Parking Lot: Shared lot across the street from church, off Canal Street. Shared with the chain Margaritas restaurant. GPS Address: 1 Nashua Dr, Nashua, NH. Entrances from Lowell St. require at minimum 3 steps and navigating inclines.

Accessible Parking Lot and Entrance: Placard parking spaces behind the church (GPS Address: 5 Grove St Nashua, NH) 5 additional non-placard parking spaces are available here, too. Use Grove St. driveway for accessible (no steps) building entrance.

If you have any questions about the ceremony, please contact Ruth Cannava at rcannava@botcave.org

Warmest regards,

Caro and the UU Church of Nashua Ordination Planning Committee (Alice, Kathy, Laurie, Pat, Paul and Ruth)

SUMMER CIRCLES SERVICES AT NSUU - 2023

For the upcoming summer season, we are gathering in “Summer Circles.” Circles are designed to be an abbreviated church service, centered around a group discussion on a topic of the presenter’s choice. Please see the attached FAQ for more information.

Thank you to those who have expressed interest in leading. We now confirmed presenters for two Sundays (August 6 and August 27), with three other individuals expressing interest. We are looking for 3-4 more people who would enjoy a chance to talk about a topic dear to their heart and of interest to our congregation.

If you're interested in helping make our NSUU summer special, please email your proposed service description to the church office (NSUU@verizon.net) and to Jennifer Revill (Religious Services Committee) (jenrevill@aol.comon or before June 15, so that it can be included in the summer newsletter and Good Things Are Happening. Be sure to include the date for your service along with your title and description.
