"Remembering Well"

Flower Ceremony

Rev. Carol Strecker Speaking

Join us for a very special celebration of the 100th Anniversary of this tradition that has deep roots in our Unitarian Universalist faith. Each of us is a unique flower with gifts of great beauty to share. When we bring them together there is great beauty in the unity enhanced by our diversity. So, bring a flower or two to add to the collective beauty of the bouquet that is Northshore Church. We’ll honor the unique gifts of several very special people including volunteer recognition.

This service will begin with the completion of the Annual Meeting; the important business of electing a new Board of Directors and Officers for the coming year.

To attend the Sunday service via Zoom,

Caro Barschow

Caro Barschow (she/they pronouns) will begin serving as Minister at Northshore UU Church in August. Caro’s spiritual influences are broad, woven by the thread of a belief that awakening hearts bring forth healing and transformation to people, planet and systems. They became a Unitarian Universalist in 2006, after being raised non-religious. Caro maintains a Buddhist meditation practice in the Insight Meditation tradition. Connecting with the natural world is an important aspect of their spirituality. Caro finds belonging in 12 Step Recovery and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Caro is a minister in preliminary fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association. She will be ordained in a ceremony on June 17th jointly by the UU Church of Nashua and the First Parish UU in Portland, ME. Caro completed a Master of Divinity degree at Boston University, chaplaincy training at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an internship at the UU Church of Nashua, NH. In addition, Caro served last year as Sabbatical Minister at the UU Church of Nashua and as Summer Minister at First Parish Portland, ME in 2020. Prior to enrolling in seminary, she worked as a Director of Religious Education and a Montessori educator in Portland, ME.

SUMMER CIRCLES SERVICES AT NSUU - 2023

This summer, NSUU is trying something different than in past years. Rather than scheduling summer services, this year we hope to gather in “Summer Circles.” These are designed to blend some basic Sunday service elements with a group discussion centered around a topic of the presenter’s choice.

There are eight (8) available summer Sundays. We will have as many Summer Circles as we have volunteers to lead them. And so, we need to know in advance who may wish to help facilitate, and on which Sunday they would like to do so.

Please note: With limited exceptions these Summer Circles will be held IN-PERSON ONLY. This will allow our hard-working technical team to have a bit of a summer break. If Zoom participation can be coordinated for a given service, it will be offered also.

Please email your proposed service description to the church office (NSUU@verizon.net) and to Jennifer Revill (Religious Services Committee) (jenrevill@aol.com) on or before June 15, 2023 so that it can be included in the summer newsletter and Good Things Are Happening. Be sure to include the date for your service along with your title and description.

From the Green Sanctuary Team...

For several years now, we have been able to give fresh produce to the Danvers food pantry from our Endicott Park garden. We can contribute vegetables again this year, but only if we can get volunteers to tend the garden!

We need a commitment of a minimum of three garden lovers to make this garden a very big success! So much can be accomplished with garden lovers making a weekly commitment of 2-3 hours in the morning. Our friends at the Maple Street Church are looking forward to joining too.

Our friends at the Danvers People to People Food Pantry look forward to fresh vegetables and herbs from our “little farm” every summer. This work is an excellent example of living our 7 Principle. Come join us!!

Contact Iain Goddard or Susan Haas if you are interested in knowing more about how you can help.
