CTE Previews for Middle School Students

Middle School Students Excited for Future Opportunities within CTE Pathways

Throughout the spring, middle school students have had the opportunity to preview the Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways waiting for them in at all of TUSD's high schools. Through on campus tours and fairs offered in partnership with Vital Link, students saw the experiences offered through TUSD's CTE Pathways, including working with industry standard technology and software. By allowing students to add hands-on learning to an already strong core academic program, TUSD CTE Pathway students will graduate from high school prepared to lead at the next level. We are thrilled to see our incoming high school students excited for the future opportunities made available for them through our CTE Pathways.

Hillview Grads

Hillview Honors Graduates with Celebration

Hillview High School celebrates graduating students through a fun and unique tradition. Before seniors walk in their caps and gowns, they are invited to the office for a celebration with Principal Tim O'Donoghue, counselors Nubia Barcelo and Sara Thede, staff and peers. Students enter to cheers as they are given a lei and the chance to place their photo on the wall of graduates prior to celebration of their accomplishments going out on the loudspeakers. It's a tradition unique to Hillview and a wonderful way to honor all that our Hawks have accomplished prior to enjoying the presentation of their diploma at graduation.

Summer Academy

A Fun Summer Awaits at the Tustin Summer Academy

Join us at the Tustin Summer Academy for a fun, no-homework opportunity to learn about something new or take a deep-dive into a favorite subject. Beginning June 12, half-day classes are offered four days a week in two- or four-week sessions. The Tustin Summer Academy is a great way to transition into summer.

Moving into Kindergarten in the fall will be so much easier after taking Fast Forward Kindergarten: Bugs! The class will explore the life of bugs while learning phonemic awareness, numbers, and listening skills. High School thespians can be ready for theater with the four-week Theater Intensive taught by the 2023 OC Music and Arts Secondary Theater Teacher of the Year Antonio Moon.

There are still classes available for all ages, including cooking, film, music, physics, drama, algebra, sports, robotics, writing and even gardening! Start the summer at Tustin Summer Academy. Find out more and register at tpsf.net/summer.

Arbor Day 2023

Rotary Celebrates Arbor Day with TUSD Third Graders

The Tustin-Santa Ana Rotary Club brought a celebration of Arbor Day to several of our elementary schools. Through visits to third grade classrooms across our district, Rotary members shared the history of Arbor Day and the importance of trees. They also brought a special gift, a small tree for each class to care for and enjoy. We are grateful to our educational partners like Tustin-Santa Ana Rotary for their continued support of our students, staff and programs.

CalKIDS

CalKIDS Offers Students a Jumpstart on College Savings

Newborns and eligible low-income public school students are automatically enrolled and given a CalKIDS college savings account with an initial deposit between $25 and $1,500. There is no need to apply and no requirement that families make any kind of financial commitment. Families also have the option to contribute, if they would like, through a ScholarShare 529.

CalKIDS savings can be used for qualified higher education expenses like tuition, books, computer equipment, supplies, and more at thousands of eligible schools nationwide and even some abroad.
