This week, Tustin Ranch Elementary students pass the talking piece as they learn about restorative circles with our counselors. In addition, our Orchard Hills ASB students focus on mindfulness. And our Foothill Knights enjoy sweet success as they prepare desserts for the State of the Schools. Enjoy a review of another great week in TUSD!

Legacy Magnet Academy KTLA visit

Legacy Students Surpass Fundraising Goals for Pediatric Cancer

If you were watching KTLA's morning news on Friday, you might have seen familiar faces as our Legacy Magnet Academy students and their fundraising efforts were featured. Led by Amani Shezad, students in the Create a Smile Club raised more than $12,000 for pediatric cancer. All donations from their Project Gold Ribbon will go to Create a Smile and Children's Hospital Orange County. Students set their goal at $10,000 and when they successfully surpassed it, staff delivered on promises made. Activities Director and English teacher Sarah Pflueger shaved her head, while teachers Steve Kelly and Justin McIntosh shaved their much loved beards and Principal Jennifer Harrison dyed her hair Legacy teal. The Legacy Team continues to support the students' entrepreneurial efforts while inspiring them to positively impact the world around them. Way to go LMA!

TPSF State of the Schools

TPSF State of the Schools Draws Packed House in Support of TUSD Schools

This week, the Tustin Public Schools Foundation (TPSF) presented the State of the Schools to a sold out crowd at Foothill High School. Guests had the opportunity to hear from TPSF President Sona Shah, in addition to student performances and an address from keynote speaker, Superintendent Mark Johnson. It was an inspiring evening, celebrating TUSD, in support of all of our schools. As President Shah shared, "We are grateful to partner with the Tustin Unified School District to serve and support our students. I hope our full house left feeling as proud of our programs and as inspired to stay curious as I did. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of such a special night."

Dot Day at Heritage Elementary

Heritage Aviators Make Their Mark on Dot Day

Last week, our Heritage Elementary Aviators made their mark in celebration of Dot Day.  Inspired by the book One Word for Kids, students had the chance to choose one word to represent them and the year ahead.  Students gathered together to sing Make Your Mark and then decorated the walkways with their word-filled dots.  It was wonderful to see the Heritage campus, students and staff covered in dots in celebration of a day highlighting the impact each of our Aviators has on the world around them.  We can't wait to see more as they continue to make their marks!

This week, Tustin Toyota joined Kids in Need Foundation to deliver backpacks filled with schools supplies for students at Heideman Elementary. Tustin Toyota Service and Parts Director Glenn Kashima, along with Lindsey Wyckoff, Director of Kids in Need, had the opportunity to surprise students with supplies in support of a great year for our Roadrunners. We are grateful to community partners like Tustin Toyota and Kids in Need Foundation for their generous support of our students and staff.
