Monday Night Hill Runs/Walks
.....Join your Fondren neighbors for an informal run/walk on Monday nights. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Avondale and Old Canton Road for a 1/2 mile trek south and back. Everyone goes at their own pace for as many loops as they like.
.....The walk/run takes place every Monday except for very bad weather. (Today's rain is predicted to have cleared by tonight!)

.....Dead grass and bushes - gone! (Well, almost.)
.....At least some of the dead and dying plants along North State Street are starting to be revived or replaced by a dedicated group of guerrilla gardeners who showed up Saturday morning with clippers and shovels. Led by horticulturist Felder Rushing, the group plans to slowly but surely make North State Street an interesting, lovely neighborhood green space which just happens to accommodate cars.

Beacon owners featured in JFP
.....Nicole Wyatt Jenkins and Jason Jenkins, owners of Fondren's The Beacon, were recently featured in the Jackson Free Press for their support of the community and local artists.
.....Nicole works in macrame and weaving, as well as hand lettering and calligraphy.
.....Jason is well known for his live paintings and murals, as well as creating comic books and adult graphic novels. His art was recently featured at Designer Con in Los Angeles.
.....The couple has owned The Beacon since 2017.
.....They call their business a "consciously curated general store for the modern creative." The couple is meticulous about ensuring that all the products offered in their store are either made sustainably or are offset.
....."When Jason and I established The Beacon, we wanted it to be a place that also gave back, not just to take and to sell. We make it a point to donate funds and products to organizations in need," says Nicole.

Fondren's Clem featured in CL
.....Compassion, business smarts: meet Kathy Clem, the force behind The Good Samaritan Center.
.....That was the headline in last week's Clarion Ledger that featured Fondren's Kathy Clem.
.....Clem was recognized for her service to the community, especially for her recent work during Jackson's water crisis and vaccination efforts.
....."I like to stay busy," she said.
.....Clem started volunteering at Good Sam about 10 years after it was founded in 1972, while her mother was executive director. After four years of pre-med classes at Millsaps and a business degree from Belhaven, she now leads one of Mississippi's most successful service organizations.
.....And, she is loved by her staff!
....."If things aren't going well, she's calm; she figures our a solution," said Sandra Catchings, manager of Good Sam's thrift store, N.U.T.S. "As a leader, she's amazing; as a friend, she's wonderful."
Car Show at The Vault, April 3rd
.....The Vault, 390 Commerce Park Drive, will host its 390 Car Show on April 3, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
.....IIn addition to the car show, there will be awards, a mobile food court, bicycle race silent auction, a live DJ and an appearance from The Easter Bunny.
.....All classes of cars can register from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
