From Part-Time Jobs to a Second Chance at Nursing
Jeanette was a certified nurse in her home country. Here in the United States, she carries her training, instincts, and calling with her everywhere she goes. In emergencies, she is the steady hand — the person others turn to first.
Yet despite all she has to offer, Jeanette spends her days piecing together part-time jobs to support her extended family. None of them allows her to use the skills she worked so hard to build.
Her dream is simple and profound: to return to the work she was meant to do — caring for others, especially seniors, who remind her of the elders she once served with such devotion.
Good for Kids is honored to help make that possible. With our support, Jeanette enrolled in the senior-care certification program at the Lincoln Trade School in Yonkers. Every weekend, she travels there for classes; during the week, she continues her ESL studies.
Jeanette is determined to wear her nurse’s badge again. She is rebuilding her future one class, one commute, one determined step at a time.
This is her first step — and certainly not her last.
