Good news & updates
Reverend Karen Palmer on the day of her ordination at First Christian Church, Blue Springs, MO. She left a career in banking to serve as a chaplain with Crossroads Hospice and as volunteer chaplain with the Blue Springs Police Department. We give thanks for Disciples like Karen and the congregations that offer encouragement and nurture for those considering ministry in this challenging time.
Congratulations to the Merriam Christian Church - recently awarded a Regional Ministry Innovation Grant
A $5,000 Ministry Innovation grant is on its way to the Merriam Christian Church for upgrades to its livestreaming technology. They learned much about the strengths and limitations of their existing systems, consulted with a professional, and raised additional funding to be able to complete their mission to be able to do more as Church online.

Jessica is starting her fourth year as the Office Manager/Administrator for our Region. Hers is the friendly voice you hear when you call 913.432.1414 (c).

Among her many responsibilities, Ms. Lopez supports clergy with standing renewal reporting issues, sets up and maintains our Regional website, provides clerical and communications help for commissions, committees, and constituency groups. She updates our Regional calendar and Regional Directory and files reports and works with our Finance Manager to submit documentation and check requests to Disciples Treasury Services.

Once the pandemic subsides and it is safe to gather again in person, she would like to resume connecting with church secretaries and administrators to learn of their needs and share information and resources. [email protected]

Our Region maintains a subscription to GrantStation
In addition to Regional Ministry Innovation and Transformation grants, and financial help available from our National Benevolent Association. there are many grants awarded every year for programs that improve conditions in the community. Grant Station is a subscription service that helps applicants to find and apply for grants. Our Region maintains a subscription to help congregations that partner with other non-profits in bold community outreach.
