Faculty researchers get funding for startup
Since 2008, Goldfinch Solutions has received $850,000 in funding from Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants in addition to support from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty startup company has pioneered multispectral imaging technology to identify tender beef at the packing stage of production.
Since its founding, the company has called on the Nebraska Business Development Center for assistance. Senior Vice President Chris Calkins says, "with NBDC's help, we got where we needed to be a lot faster and with a lot less stress."

Jing connects researchers to funding
Wei Jing, MPA, commercialization consultant, is the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs manager for the state of Nebraska, administering all outreach, training and counseling activities for the state and increasing awareness on the part of researchers, entrepreneurs and small businesses of the opportunities provided by SBIR funding.
