IVYP News
June 2022
A Note from our Executive Director

Dear friend,

We received very exciting news recently that the FDA and CDC have authorized COVID-19 vaccines for children under five years of age. This is so important for those of us who work with or who are parents of young children.

For the past 24 months, since we re-opening our Children’s Center in July of 2020, our students and our teachers have been at risk, coming to school every day. Parents absolutely need childcare. Children deserve to learn and develop in a high-quality, welcoming, developmentally appropriate environment. We have been committed to continuing to provide that high-quality education despite the risks, but it has been hard. This is true for every Children’s Center. Getting vaccinated helps to lowet

We encourage everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated and boosted. We expect to be hosting our next vaccine clinic soon!

Happy Pride!

Pride is about visibility, individuality, expression, and love. This June IVYP celebrated #PrideMonth through our Mindful Monday Book Series. Every Monday we highlighted developmentally appropriate LGBTQIA+ Children's Books that you can share with your little ones. To see all the books we share and stay in the loop with IVYP by checking out our social media channels here.
Staff Spotlight - Lulu Cordero

"What I like most about my job is that every day the children come with me and I see that they feel very safe when they arrive here and that we have that connection to be able to have a good day."

Harvest of the Month

Each month we share a healthy, easy and affordable recipe to try that highlights ingredients you can get at our food distribution and weekly farm stand. This month we are highlighting zucchini! Zucchini boasts several antioxidants that may provide various health benefits. The highest levels are found in the skin. We love this recipe because it puts a new healthy spin on a familiar favorite!

Get Involved with IVYP
IVYP needs your support as we work hard to support our community in the wake of COVID-19. We’ve stepped up and we need your help to continue. Please consider a donation to IVYP’s COVID-19 Response Fund to help us continue to provide the caring, proactive and flexible support our community needs.
Be a diaper champion by sponsoring the cost of diapers for local families. Diapers are one of the most consistent requests from our families at our FRC. Disposable diapers can cost as much as $100 per month per baby so every contribution makes a big difference.
Did you know that many of our most vulnerable students don’t have a dedicated place at home to do their school work? IVYP will purchase and distribute folding desks to any GUSD student who has a need through our new Study Table Fund. To support this effort click here to donate.
