We’re sloshing through rain water at the shop’s front door. Even so, and thanks to woodworkers such as yourself, we are busy here at Hock Tools, wind and rain and puddles notwithstanding.

Sorry if I missed a call or two. From Sunday to a couple of hours ago, we’d been without power or the Internet at the house, where my office is. Both are now restored – we’ll see for how long. I’ll make this short!

As a matter of fact, this entire first newsletter for 2017 is short. We’ll get you another, longer one soon. In the meantime, if you haven’t read my blog post about bubinga, this one’s for you!

I hope you’re keeping cozy and that 2017 brings you happiness and prosperity.

And, of course, if you need anything from Hock Tools, please let me know.

In Case You Missed the January 2, 2017 Post  on Ron's Blog, aka The Sharpening Blog:
So long, Bubinga — we were just getting to know ya’. Here it is January 2017 and  you've been added to the CITES list (appendix II of "species that are not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled...
Bubinga was added to
the Convention  on International Trade in
Endangered Species of  Wild Fauna and Flora (CITIES) List, Appendix II.
We'll be using jatoba instead. But will continue
to ship our bubinga plane kits and carving knife handles to customers within the U.S. until
 our inventory is exhausted.

It's Easy to be in the  Hock Tools Photo Album:
The photographs you send of the tools you make with our blades and kits inspire us at Hock Tools, and they inspire other woodworkers. As such, from time to time we like to publish your photos in our newsletter! Here are some guidelines to help us feature your Hock Tools related projects.
