Greetings!
Your Chamber has actively been seeking support for our Guam businesses as we prepare for the impacts to our tourism industry as the world responds to the threat of COVID-19. Although Guam remains Coronavirus free for now, the international outbreak has compelled airline seat and hotel accommodation cancellations which are already impacted our local economy.
We have received emails and phone calls from various companies and individuals who have expressed their concern about the decline in tourism numbers. We appreciate your feedback. We continue to outreach and advocate for you and will keep you updated on any new developments as they arise.
We thank DOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez for speaking to our membership on Wednesday, February 26th about the programs and partnerships in place to address career readiness outcomes for our students. Successful authentic partnerships with the Guam Community College, Guam Association for Career & Technical Education (GACTE) and industry leaders in the form of Career Academies are one of many programs moving forward and looking to be established in more high schools. We applaud these efforts and continue to work towards expanding and growing collaborative efforts between the Department of Education, other education entities and the private sector.
As we move into a new month we encourage your engagement and participation in the various activities and programs of your Guam Chamber. We look forward to seeing you at the next Chamber event soon!
Onward together,
Catherine S. Castro
President
