Gen Con 2018 is done and we've got a ton of news from the show--but that's not all! We've got new third-party releases, new Road Crew Swag, Real Life Adventures, The Martian Vizier, and more!

Let's get to it!
NEW RELEASES
NEW THIRD PARTY PRODUCT!
A pair of great books in our online store!

We've got two new books that have arrived in our online store! Both of these books are for Dungeon Crawl Classics, and are from our great publishing partners.

The Deck of Twisted Terrors is a collection of 70 post apocalyptic creatures from Umerica for game masters to use as a quick reference during play or to pull random encounters from. Each card has the creature’s image on one side and its abbreviated write up on the other. For more information on each creature, please reference the page referenced at the bottom of each card.

The Phlogiston Books Vol. II: The Stone Heir explores how a bunch of pathetic village peasants become a bunch of pathetic mercenaries, cutpurses, sorcerers, and holy men. And it does so with heroic quests that will inspire the bards' musical pieces, such as Pigs from the Pit, an adventure for newly-minted first level characters, or The Stone Heir, an adventure for hardened level 1 characters.

NEW SWAG FOR THE ROAD CREW!
We've added options for the Road Crew!

Our Road Crew is the backbone of our team. The Road Crew is the front line, showing off their love of  Dungeon Crawl Classics  and Goodman Games at stores and events around the world. We recently sent a survey to our Road Crew members about what we as a company can do to help out, and they had some great suggestions. As we mentioned at the What's New With Goodman Games seminar at Gen Con, we’re going to implement as many as we can right away!

Here are four updates that Road Crew members can take advantage of immediately.
  • The Custom Judge's Pin
  • The DCC Take-A-Penny Tray
  • Free DCC Quick Start Rules
  • Free Blacklight DCC RPG Poster

NEWS FROM GEN CON!
GOODMAN PRODUCT NEWS FROM GEN CON!
New products on the way!

Gen Con brought a ton of news, and here's the meat of the product info!

The first big news is the announcement of the second volume in our  Original Adventures Reincarnated  line. The first volume,  Into the Borderlands , was the biggest release in the history of Goodman Games. The reception to it continues to amaze us, and we are thrilled beyond belief. And we are very proud to announce that the second volume in the series is...drum roll please... X1: The Isle of Dread OAR 2: The Isle of Dread  will contain scans of the two original TSR publications of  Isle of Dread  (orange cover and blue cover editions), plus a 5E conversion, as well as interviews with original creators and other special features!

We also announced the next release in our Alphabet line!  The Cthulhu Alphabet  is the next volume, and is on the schedule for 2019.

The final thing we're going to talk about today is the next big Kickstarter for  DCC  fans. It will combine three awesome projects:  The DCC Annual  (at long last!) takes center stage, and is bringing along add-ons of the 2nd printing of  DCC #83: The Chained Coffin , and the 7th printing of the  DCC RPG  core book.

FUTURE RELEASES GO
PRINT + PDF!
Retailer friendly multiple formats!

Many of you enjoy our  Fifth Edition Fantasy  line, and know that for years Goodman Games has offered free print+PDF purchases for every module in that line. While we’re not the first publisher to do this, we’re the first to do in a retailer-friendly way through mass distribution channels.

Each  Fifth Edition Fantasy  module includes a printed coupon code, which allows the purchaser to download a PDF copy for free. This works whether the print copy is purchased in a brick-and-mortar game store or online or at a convention. Anyplace you get a physical copy, you will also get a digital one. We continue to support retailers and are proud to be the publisher who has pioneered a print+PDF distribution model that is fair to retailers.

We’re excited to announce that we will now be rolling out this model to include most of our other products. Most Goodman Games products will now include a printed coupon code on the title page, with instructions on how to download the accompanying PDF edition. This began with  DCC #97: The Queen of Elfland’s Son  and will continue through future releases.

TEAM TOURNAMENT RECAP!
Play-by-play of what happened!

Last year’s  DCC RPG  open tournament amounted to a proof of concept. Could  DCC  be run in a tournament setting? Would it still feel like  DCC ? The answer was  yes.  Players and judges alike explored  DCC RPG  through a new lens.

Year Two brought an entirely different tenor. This year, players were out for blood. And, with no fewer than 14 TPKs over 24 sessions, the tournament did not disappoint.

While some of the tables were pick up groups, many came as organized teams (matching uniforms included).

TEAM TOURNAMENT STATS!
All the details from the tourney!

The aftershocks of Gen Con 2018 just keep coming. It was an amazing con, and one of the highlights was the big  DCC Team Tournament .

The 2018 Gen Con DCC Team Tournament  brought together Judges and players alike as they competed in our title event,  Riders on the Phlogiston . This year 98 players competing on 18 different teams took on the deadly challenge, more than doubling the size of the last year’s tournament. Over the course of four brutal days and three hard-fought rounds, many PCs fell and a record number of teams were wiped out in TPKs. Eventually two champions emerged: the first place Hammertoes and the runner-up Lords of Sarcasm.

We now present the official tournament stats, including all the Judges, rooms and authors that contributed to this year’s amazing event. And we’re proud to introduce the Count Dante Tournament Rating System! This is a new rating scale for the deadliest tournament modules based on actual play results.

GOODMAN GAME JUDGE'S AWARDS!
The first-ever Goodies!

We’re very excited to announce the inaugural  Goodman Games Judges Awards  (which some fans have affectionately titled “The Goodies”). Judges are the backbone of the fan experience for Gen Con, and for  DCC RPG  in general. No matter how good an adventure module is, a bad judge can ruin it and a good judge can amplify it. Judges make the con for many of our fans, and we’d like to recognize this.

For the first annual Judges Awards, we ran the stats on judges and their games over the last several years. Based on that, we are excited to recognize these judges who have gone above and beyond in answering the call of duty over the last few years! These judges were recognized in person at our Judge’s Appreciation Party Saturday night, held alongside Doug Con in the Embassy Suites lobby.

GEN CON PHOTOS!
A collection of images from Goodman!

There is a lot that goes on at Gen Con. And we mean A LOT. From the time team Goodman arrives to the moment the last of us waves good-bye on the way home, Gen Con is filled with events and moments and...a bit of everything.

And what better way to celebrate it than in pictures! From all across the con we gathered images of Goodman Games moments from Gen Con, and we've collected them here for you to enjoy. We've placed over 100 photos in this gallery, ranging from setting up the booth to closing down the show, and everything that fell in between.

VIZIER'S VIEWS - DCC #97: THE QUEEN OF ELFLAND'S SON!
A review of one of our latest releases!

The Queen of Elfland’s Son  is a 1st level DCC RPG adventure written by Michael Curtis. The title is an homage to  The King of Elfland’s Daughter , by Lord Dunsany…and it shows throughout the writing.  This is actually the second Michael Curtis homage to Lord Dunsany. The first was  Gnole House , published for Free RPG Day in 2017. Both adventures showcase how the author understands the works of others, and his flair for growing eminently playable scenarios from their roots...
REAL LIFE ADVENTURES: QUEST FOR THE WIZARD VAN!
The quest continues!

As many fans know, Goodman Games has quested for many years in search of a wizard van. Nothing would make us more happy than rolling up to the game store in a 1970’s-style van with bubble windows and a wizard mural painted on the side. And of course we’d run games out of the back at Gen Con! Our  2015 Gen Con Program Guide   even featured a digital mockup of our dream van on the cover.

When we got a hot tip that the 47th Van Nationals were being held near Indianapolis the week before Gen Con, a plot hatched to rent a wizard van! Since I’m only a few hours from there and was traveling that direction anyway on the week in question, I was chosen for the mission.  Musk Goblin  reporting for duty...
