Province Leaders Attend National Conference in Atlanta
The LCWR Assembly in Atlanta brought together a powerful convergence of women religious in the U.S. and executive staff, all driven by a passion for justice and equality. LCWR is the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.
The theme, Hope Unbroken: Journeying in God's Promise, responds to the call of Pope Francis who wrote, “Today our world is experiencing a tragic ‘famine’ of hope. So much pain, emptiness, and inconsolable grief surrounds us! May we become messengers of the consolation bestowed by the Spirit. When we radiate hope, God opens new paths along our journey.”
Through breakout groups, spiritual reflection and panel discussions, they distilled their collective energy into a potent force for change. This was dramatically embodied by the Pilgrimage of Hope through downtown Atlanta, a walking testament to the transformative potential of united action. Read about it here.

Series of Hope: Advocating for Nuclear Disarmament and a Lasting Peace
Speaking of breathing hope into a broken world, the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation department hosted an evening of reflection to commemorate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Eighty years ago this month, the two bombings in Japan shocked the world and the impact of this violence remains heartbreaking decades later. The virtual event on August 20 was a time to reflect, pray and discuss how we can promote peace in our communities and around the world. For more details about our efforts to advocate for peace, contact Kathryn Yanik at kyanik@ewsndden.org.

Summer Vibes at Notre Dame Health Care
Our health center staff takes great pride in providing professional excellence and compassionate care to residents at the du Lac facility. This month, they outdid themselves in planning fun and fantastic activities and excursions for the du Lac communities! Here are some highlights:
- Aloha! The annual luau felt like a trip to Hawaii with the delicious food, festive decorations, Hawaiian music and leis on a beautiful summer afternoon. Steel drum musician Brian James entertained the residents as they sipped fruity drinks.
- A day trip to Lake Quinsigamond with the memory care neighborhood involved sunshine, a picnic and delicious ice cream on the waterfront. A change of scenery and a sweet treat are always welcome!
- Pool noodles, beach balls and a net were all the equipment needed for a spirited game of noodle volleyball! It's much more difficult than you'd think and takes concentration and lots of hand-eye coordination. The residents had a ball!

A lakeside picnic was the perfect day trip for du Lac's memory care community and staff. | |

Summer Research Connects Students and Faculty at Emmanuel College
Forty-five students across multiple disciplines are currently conducting research alongside Emmanuel faculty in the college's summer research program.
Getting involved in research greatly impacts students now -- they get a stipend and are able to live on campus during their research period -- and in the future. Being included on published work is a huge takeaway that can open doors to more opportunties for learning, growth and employment.
The 2025 research projects are highlighted in a series of news stories on the college's website. Read more here.
