South Boston Park Honors Sister Mary Veronica Park, SNDdeN
When in South Boston, be sure to visit Sister Mary Veronica Park! The city acquired the "pocket park" from the Archdiocese of Boston, ensuring its preservation as a permanent open space and protecting it from developers.
Several Sisters attended the rededication ceremony in September, hosted by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to honor Sister Mary Veronica, SNDdeN. Sister Mary Veronica was born in South Boston and passed away at the young age of 40. Her park was first dedicated in 1968 and is maintained by volunteers in the neighborhood.
Enjoy the park's shade trees and benches in South Boston at the intersection of West 8th, F and Grimes streets.

| | | Happy 185th Anniversary to the SNDdeN in the U.S.! | October 31 is a special day for Sisters in the United States. On this day in 1840, eight Sisters journeyed from Belgium by ocean liner to the U.S. with instructions to begin the Congregation's first expansion outside the original mother house. They landed in Cincinnati before expanding to the northeast less than a decade later, while in 1843, more Sisters traveled from Belgium to the Pacific Northwest. Today, Sisters have made their mark on schools and communities from coast to coast, including Hawaii and Alaska. Cheers to 185 years of impact in America! | | | Highlights from our Learning Communities | | |

Students "Adopt" Sisters in Belmont
Eleven students at Notre Dame High School in Belmont, California, were matched with Sisters at the Belmont Province Center in a brand-new "Adopt-a-Sister" program. Over cookies and coloring pages, they introduced themselves at a meet-and-greet in October. We are excited to share leadership opportunities and St. Julie's charism with NDHS students, so please join us in praying that our good God blesses these new friendships.

| | | | Insightful Conversations Mark the UN Day of the Girl Child | | |
As Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we believe girls are worth investing in to create a more equal, just and hopeful world. Since our founding in 1804, we have advocated for girls to have quality education and opportunities. In honor of the UN Day of the Girl Child, we hosted a Zoom call with several SNDdeN schools, during which students presented on topics including the value of women's education today and the education crisis in Afghanistan. Thank you to the young women at Notre Dame Academy (Worcester, Massachusetts), Notre Dame Academy (Hingham, Massachusetts), Maryvale Preparatory School (Lutherville, Maryland), Notre Dame High School (Belmont, California) and Mount Notre Dame (Cincinnati, Ohio) for sharing your perspectives.
