Remembering Sister Mary Doyle, SNDdeN (1929 - 2023) |
Sister Mary Doyle enjoyed a long career as an educator, serving as both a teacher and a principal at schools throughout Massachusetts. She loved working with the children in her classroom and always sought to lend a helping hand to people in need. Sister Mary celebrated her 75th year as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur this year.
Sister Mary went home to her good God on July 17, 2023, at 93.

On June 25, 2023, our E-W Province Jubilarians in the Northeast were honored at a celebration at Emmanuel College in Boston. 16 Jubilarians were honored at a special Mass and luncheon, surrounded by friends and loved ones!

Notre Dame High School Conference Emphasizes Leadership |
From June 26 to 29, 74 students selected from ten of our USA high schools met in Boston to grow and develop as future leaders. Organized by Sisters Rosemary Reynolds, Maria Delaney, Pat Toce, and Kristin Matthes, SNDdeN, and Gina Helms of Badin High School in Ohio, the conference focused on leadership, Laudato Si’, and environmental consciousness.

Sister Claudia Blanchette Retires from Ministry in Clinical Pastoral Education |
On June 30, Sister Claudia Blanchette, SNDdeN, celebrated her retirement from Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts. Her past 24-year ministry as a Clinical Pastoral Educator at the hospital consisted of preparing people from various religious traditions to provide spiritual care as chaplains or as clergy engaged in parish ministries.
To commemorate Sister Claudia’s retirement, her colleagues at the hospital organized a special ceremony for her. Friends, colleagues, and many former students from her decades of work at the hospital celebrated the impact Sister Claudia has made on their lives.

National School Leaders Conference celebrates Catholic Identity | The National School Leaders Conference was held June 26-30 in Burlingame, California. The theme of the week was Mission in Leadership. It included over 40 teachers, administrators, and staff participating in presentations, interactive workshops, and discussions to support school leaders on conflict management and administration, cultivating Catholic identity in sponsored institutions, racial equity, and the Hallmarks reaffirmation process. | |

Notre Dame San Jose Welcomes New Head of School | At the beginning of July, Ashley Rae Mathis became the new Head of School for Notre Dame San Jose, succeeding Mary Beth Riley, who retired after 37 years at NDSJ. Mary Beth's impact on the community is immeasurable, and her stewardship leads to an exciting new chapter. With an impressive background and skillset, Ashley Rae is well-equipped to guide NDSJ as it seeks to educate women leaders. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur wish her much success in her new position! | |
