Celebrating 175 Years in New England

From our founding in France in 1804 to our arrival in Boston in 1849, we have steadfastly committed our lives to making known God’s goodness. Our mission to educate for life and stand with people living in poverty, especially women and children in the most abandoned places, is our enduring legacy that continues to be shared in our communities today.

We are excited to kick off the celebration of 175 years of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in New England with the first of a series of articles in The Boston Pilot. Each month you’ll learn more about our history and ministries.

Notre Dame Students Attend This Year's Ignatian Family

Teach-In for Justice

In late October, students from NDA Hingham, Notre Dame High School in San Jose and NDA Villanova traveled to Washington, DC, to take part in a three-day workshop on topics including climate change, racial justice, peace-building, and the abolishment of the death penalty.

This year's theme for the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s 26th annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice was "Boundless and Beloved," emphasizing the limitlessness of community action.

Tyngsboro Students "Camp Out to Stamp out Hunger"

More than seventy NDA Tyngsboro students camped outside in solidarity with the many people experiencing homelessness in the areas of Tyngsboro, Dracut and Lowell, Massachusetts, joining together to raise awareness of food and housing insecurity.

In this second annual "Camp Out to Stamp Out Hunger" event, families collected food and fleece blanket donations. The goal of the school’s Campus Ministry is to help feed 5,000 people this year through this and other initiatives.
