Sr. Patricia O'Donnell, SNDdeN (1936-2023) |
Sister Patricia was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 67 years, working as the retreat director for the Loretto House in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and serving as the patient advocate for Notre Dame du Lac in Worcester. She went home to her good God on Dec. 17, 2023, at the age of 87.

Sr. Catherine Shanahan, SNDdeN (1934-2023) |
Sister Catherine Timothy Shanahan was a lifelong educator. For 32 years she worked as director of religious education and lay ministry coordinator for the Holy Rosary School in Staten Island, New York. She went home to her good God on Dec. 21, 2023, at the age of 89.

Sr. Ann Marie Connolly, SNDdeN (1934-2023) |
In Sister Ann Marie's long career as an educator she taught many grades, but her main focus was junior high school math. She was known for her keen sense of humor and kindness. She went home to her good God on Dec. 23, 2023, at 89 years.

Sr. Teresa Ann Leahy, SNDdeN (1930-2023) |
Sister Teresa Ann Leahy was a devoted teacher. She was a cornerstone of Moreland Notre Dame School in Watsonville, California, serving there for 40 years, 20 of which she spent as principal. She went home to her good God on Dec. 30, 2023, at the age of 93.

Sr. Kathleen St. John, SNDdeN (1938-2024) |
In her 63 years of consecrated life, Sister Kathleen served the Lord through the ministries of education, librarianship, counseling and as a home health aide. Sister Kathleen St. John went home to her good God on Jan. 7, 2024, at the age of 85.

Sr. Marion William Cotty, SNDdeN (1933-2024) |
Sister Marion Cotty served as an educator, pastoral associate, peace liaison and chaplain. In everything she did, she remained a passionate advocate for social justice. She went home to her good God on Jan. 22, 2024, at the age of 90.

Founders' Day Celebrations Across the Province
On Feb. 2, we celebrated Founders' Day. Students, Sisters, Associates, staff and other members of our community came together at various events around the country to celebrate the founding of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur 220 years ago.

Moreland Notre Dame School Named on Best-List
Moreland Notre Dame School was named the Best Private/Charter School, Best After-School Program and runner-up for Best Pre-School in The Pajaroan's 2023 Best of Pajaro Valley Awards. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Notre Dame Belmont and Notre Dame San Jose Named Best Private High Schools in Santa Clara
Notre Dame Belmont and Notre Dame San Jose were listed as two of the best private high schools near Santa Clara by SF Gate, noting their low student-teacher ratios and high rates of college enrollment. Congratulations on this recognition!

Notre Dame Sponsorship Office Hosts Educators Symposium | The Notre Dame Educators’ Symposium, co-sponsored by Notre Dame de Namur University and the sponsorship office of the East-West Province of Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, was held on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024. This event aimed to gather faculty, staff and administrators from Notre Dame de Namur schools across the province to discuss important trends in education and how they impact our Notre Dame educational mission. Keynote speaker Chris Brooks, Ph.D., professor of computer science for the USF department of engineering, led a discussion on the implications of AI for educators. | |

Congratulations to Dr. Beth Ross, Ed. D. for her appointment as Emmanuel College's 14th president.
Dr. Ross has been with Emmanuel for 24 years, the last six months of which she has served as acting president. We wish her all the best in her new, well-deserved role.

We are excited to be offering two virtual opportunities for spiritual reflection to single women, age 25-45!
The first is a Lenten season "Busy Persons" retreat. Partner with a companion, share your spiritual journey and discuss how the good God is working in your life, beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14.
