Former Bakhita House Client Celebrates Citizenship

In 2013, Jannet Dambo came to the Bakhita House, a mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Massachusetts, founded to support victims of human trafficking. She sought our help in order to escape labor trafficking, having lived through a year of forced labor.

At the Bakhita House, she was given safe shelter and food. Our Sisters helped connect her with vital services and she was able to improve her English, take classes at Notre Dame Education Center in South Boston, and learn about the hospitality industry at the International Institute of New England. Now, she celebrates her citizenship and was able to bring her two sons to America to join her!
