Hello friends,
Happy summer! I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather.
I had the good fortune of touring the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City this past weekend. While learning about its history, and making my way through an exhibit on James Joyce's Ulysses, I was cognizant of how lovely it was to be cool and air-conditioned when it was topping 100 degrees outside. I returned to Goodnow this week and similarly noticed how wonderfully busy the Library has been. This reminded me — once again — of the importance of the Library as a community hub. People were there to study, work, and socialize. Many brought their kids for the fabulous children's programs. And every one of them was taking advantage of an inviting place to gather where they could be comfortable and cool.
Andrew Carnegie recognized the free public library as a place "where neither rank, office, nor wealth receives the slightest consideration." We at Goodnow celebrate that public libraries are free and accessible to all - No membership is required. Perhaps the public library is America at its best.
We invite you to please visit Goodnow soon to appreciate all that it has to offer.
Warmly,
Holly
