Welcome to 2017!  Resolutions are popular this time of year, and we have been thinking about our own resolutions here at the Gordie Center.  We outline them below, and how you can help us work toward our goals!  What are your resolutions for 2017?
2017 Gordie Center Goals
Our 2017 resolutions honor our mission to prevent alcohol overdose and hazing. By sharing Gordie's story and educating about the signs of alcohol overdose, we empower students nationwide to intervene when a friend is in trouble. Our goals for 2017 include:
  • Increasing our outreach: spread Gordie's story and our evidence-informed, student-tested materials to new students and communities;
  • Creating a national set of resources for effective hazing prevention, using a positive approach that focuses on values and ideals within a group; and
  • Supporting students in recovery to help them achieve their higher education goals.
We need your help to advance our goals! Here are some of the ways you can support our 2017 resolutions:
  • Purchase GORDIEstore products for your campus and community prevention efforts. We are proud to offer evidence-informed, student-tested products used by hundreds of high schools, colleges, universities, and communities around the country. We want Gordie's story to reach as many students as possible nationwide, to help prevent another tragedy. Incorporating GORDIEstore products into your prevention efforts is easy and effective!
  • Need help with your programming? Reach out to Gordie Center staff to find out how we can support you: we can help you choose the products that are right for you; we can customize our products with your logo; we are able to create new products quickly if you have an idea for a product we do not yet offer; and we can travel to you to facilitate a screening of HAZE.
  • Donate to the Gordie Center! As a national non-profit, we are always grateful for the support of donors. Consider making a tax-deductible donation today!
Planning Ahead for the Spring Semester
January is a great month to brainstorm ideas for the spring semester and get organized.  Take stock of the materials that you have on hand, and order more where needed.  Check out the GORDIEstore to see which of the products we offer will complement your efforts.  Work with your students to plan your Safe Spring Break messaging and campaign.  The spring semester is a busy one, so take advantage of this time to plan!
We hope you enjoy a wonderful start to 2017!

Until next month,
