After announcing our new GORDIEstore system in March, we ran into some technical difficulties, which prevented payments from being processed. If you tried to purchase any GORDIEstore items last month and were unable to do so, we are so sorry! The glitch has been fixed, and if you visited the store website since the launch in March, you may need to clear your browser cookies and restart your browser for the working site to load. To thank you for your patience with our new system, we are offering a 10% discount on our products for the month of April--exclusive to our newsletter subscribers! Just enter " APRILNEWS" into the coupon code box at checkout!

The Gordie Center just hosted our APPLE Training Institute for NCAA Division II schools in Dallas, Texas (Gordie's hometown). Over 200 student-athletes and administrators spent an inspiring 3 days learning from our faculty and presenters. Each school team created their own action plan to reduce alcohol misuse on their campus. Gordie's mother and stepfather, Leslie and Michael Lanahan, addressed the entire conference and also spoke with the 50 participants who attended the HAZE breakout session. Their presence truly enhanced the experience for all of our APPLE participants, and we are tremendously grateful for their time and support!

SUMMER HAZING PREVENTION INSTITUTES
The Gordie Center is proud to partner with two of the leading national hazing prevention organizations: HazingPrevention.Org and NovakTalks. Both groups are hosting higher education hazing prevention institutes this summer (details below), and we encourage you to attend! Staff from the Gordie Center will be at both institutes, and we would love to meet and work with you!
June 19 - 21, 2019 in Philadelphia, PA
HazingPrevention.Org's Hazing Prevention Institute provides building blocks for proactive hazing prevention on campuses and within organizations, with an evidence-based curriculum. Susie Bruce, director of the Gordie Center, will be there as a 2019 Institute Faculty member and a small group facilitator. Susie's presentation will focus on how to engage students in hazing prevention efforts. Register to attend now!
July 17 - 19, 2019 in Dallas, TX
RISE and NovakTalks in partnership with UT Dallas are hosting the Interdisciplinary Institute for Hazing Prevention, where attendees will learn how to address hazing using a strategic, comprehensive, and interdisciplinary approach that focuses on preventing hazing rather than just responding to incidents. Holly Deering and Jill Maurer from the Gordie Center will be in attendance. Register to attend now!
GivingToHoosDay is next week! Now through April 9, 2019, all donations to the Gordie Center will be matched (up to $15,000!). Help us reach our match with a tax-deductible gift. You amplify Gordie's legacy and support our mission to end hazing and substance misuse in high school and college students with a gift of any size. Why not double your impact through our GivingToHoosDay campaign? We appreciate you!
Until next month,

Susie Bruce,  Director, The Gordie Center
