SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2020
"The idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting."

-Andy Warhol
Today....I...Am...EXCITED! [Insert GIF: kid flailing with excitement]

Excited to tell you that we have so much to look forward to! This week we say "Bye, Felicia" to September and "Hey, Dude" to October! October has it's fist tightly clenched around the opportunity to bring you all the glorious fun we've been awaiting. Let's run down what's happening...

In approximately 17 days we will welcome the 15th Annual Elkhorn Oktoberfest celebration to our downtown locale. 17 sleeps until we welcome 20+ food trucks and food vendors to overrun Wisconsin Street with their delicious smells and promises of a full belly. 400ish hours till the live music ripples through the air informing your brain it's time to celebrate. 24,000 seconds [give or take a few] till the classic cars roll in, the 5K-ers lace up, and we spend the day TOGETHER.

I'm equally excited to report that the City of Elkhorn has made the informed decision to allow the youth of our community the opportunity to forage for a bounty of candy that will live on for months in the back corner of a closet, pantry or hiding spot never to be seen again! Heck, we're already wearing masks we might as well get a sugar buzz reward for our efforts. In addition to our Annual Trick or Treat on October 31st from 5pm-7pm, check out our community happenings for the 6 FEET TRICK OR TREAT at Sunset Park!

I would be remiss to bathe each of these events in excitement alone and not reinforce the need for community members to be mindful of social distancing and the practices in place to share the responsibility of public safety. In 17 days we will host our first community event in 2020. We anticipate a surge of enthusiasm coupled with a pang of concern from our guests and viewing audiences. We understand all sides and appreciate everyone and look forward to spending time with those who feel comfortable to do so! Till then...

Keep smiling, keep sanitizing, and stay safe!
