SUPPORT LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH (PHE GRANT) FUNDING IN THE HOUSE BUDGET TODAY!
Below please find an action alert from our colleagues at Mass Public Health Association that asks for your help in the next 24 hours to ensure the Public Health Excellence funding is maintained in the House version of the State Budget (budget debate begins in the afternoon on Wednesday 4/24)
Dear Local Public Health supporters,
We need your help this week to make sure that local public health gets adequate funding in the FY25 state budget. Last week, the House Ways and Means committee released its proposed budget, which included a $6M cut to the line item that provides state budget funding for the Public Health Excellence grant program. Reps. Hannah Kane and Denise Garlick filed amendment #63 to level fund grants to local and regional boards of health at $15M for FY25. The House will debate its budget next week, and over the next few days it’s important that your House representatives hear from you about the importance of local public health funding. So far, these representatives have cosponsored amendment #63 – if your rep is not on this list, please click this link and follow the steps to reach out to your rep and urge them to cosponsor amendment #63. If your rep is already on the list, please reach out and thank them for their support. Once you’ve taken action, please share this action alert with your networks!
Finally, MPHA is hosting our second annual public health lobby day at the state house on May 2. We are so close to passing SAPHE 2.0 and we need your help to get it across the finish line. You can register for lobby day here. We hope to see you all on May 2!
Thanks for you all you do!
