Dear members of the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem,
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is David Garbe, and I am the new Director of the McKinney Center for STEM Education at the Philadelphia Education Fund (PEF). Hopefully you received my email earlier this week.
As we all know, by fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and math, we empower young people to solve problems, innovate novel solutions, and create a better society. As a collective Ecosystem, we create opportunities where every person feels inspired and empowered to pursue their STEM dreams. If you haven't done so lately, I encourage you to ask yourself “How can I get more involved?” or “How can I make a difference?" For starters, please provide your ideas and input on this three-question survey (seriously... it's only three questions). No suggestion is too small and candid feedback is welcome!
It is an honor to serve alongside this deeply committed collective of community partners who truly understand the importance of educating our youth and helping them realize the critical importance of a STEM-first mindset. I look forward to continued conversations and partnerships as we build and enhance STEM opportunities for the young people and communities in and around our great city.
With gratitude and hope,
David S. Garbe, PhD (he/him)
Director, McKinney Center for STEM Education
