FALL Members Meeting

November 9, 4:00-5:30 PM


The Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem and the Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective would like to invite all its members to the "Fall Members Meeting" on Wednesday, November 9th from 4:00-5:30 .


Along with updates from both the Ecosystem and the Collective, we will have a special presentation on the School District of Philadelphia's new math, science, and STEAM vision and instructional guidance. It will be led by Daniel Miller-Uueda, STEAM Curriculum Specialist, KD Davenport, Director of Science, and Lauren Young, Director of Mathematics, all from the Office of Curriculum and Instruction at SDP.

PSSE's upcoming webinar will be STEM Education Policy and Funding Update. If you interested to hear what might change in STEM education policy under our new Governor or would you like to know more about the CHIPS Act and other new federal supports for STEM education along with wanting to know more about the PA STEEEL Standards and their roll out, please join us to on November 3 from 4:00-5:00 pm to get the latest in STEM education policy and funding news.  Register before or during the meeting HERE.

TRIO College Access Program Coordinator


The position supports the backbone organizational functions of the Philadelphia College Access and Success Ecosystem (CASE), a citywide initiative that aims to improve upon current Philadelphia high school completion and college success measures by harnessing the power of the collective. This position will report to the Director of the TRIO College Access Program and work with other Coordinators in the College Access Program and other programs within the Philadelphia Education Fund.

Welcome New

Team Member

Pennsylvania Statewide STEM Ecosystem Manager

The McKinney Center has a new team member - Sarah Godner. Sarah is very excited to be joining the team to help manage the "PSSE: Harnessing the Power of Pennsylvania STEM Ecosystems" initiative. The initiative is made possible through a PASmart Advancing Grant given to PEF& Northeastern Educational IU 19.


Sarah is originally from Santa Fe New Mexico, studied in the University of Texas, and has been in Philly for the last 11 years. She has taught elementary school in West, North and South Philly, and worked at the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia putting on programs and events pertaining to education, political advocacy, economic growth. and DEI.

Regional Industries and STEM Education- Featuring DVIRC!

Meeting on

November 21, 12:00-1:00PM


The Philadelphia Education Fund, in collaboration with the Philadelphia STEM Equity Collectivehas assembled a group of industries interested in partnerships between Regional Industries and STEM Education (RISE). This group is currently for businesses and industries only.

 

Our monthly meetings are on the third Monday of every month, from12:00-1:00 pm. This month the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC) will highlight their exciting industry-education  partnerships.

The Philadelphia STEM Education Directory is a free searchable map of a variety of opportunities in STEM in the Greater Philadelphia Area. 


There is no cost to be included in this searchable map. If you are a STEM Program Provider that has a STEM out-of-school time program geared to students Pre-K to high school, click HERE to register. If you are a STEM Professional Development Provider offers STEM PD for both classroom teachers and informal educators that work with Pre-K to high school students in the Greater Philadelphia area, click HERE to register.

Donald McKinney was a beloved chemistry teacher, who founded the Philadelphia Education Fund’s Math and Science Coalition. In recognition of his commitment to and passion for STEM Education, the Philadelphia Education Fund has organized its STEM Initiatives within the Donald McKinney Center for STEM Education.
