Important Information About Granville Towers
The Leasing Office is currently experiencing a large volume of calls and emails. Due to our small staff, we are unable to offer immediate responses. Please take a moment to review the information below.
Check out these Frequently Asked Questions!

Q. My name is on the parking waitlist, but I have not heard anything. What should I do?
A. Offers to purchase a permit are made on a rolling basis as future residents decline parking, so there is no deadline for when someone on the waitlist will be notified. If you are concerned about obtaining a parking spot in Chapel Hill, we would recommend investigating other options in the meantime. A few places you can look would be Craigslist or through the Town of Chapel Hill at www.parkonthehill.com.

Q. I have a grant, scholarship, or loan. Can I use that to pay room and board?
A. Granville Towers works with students receiving financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, etc.) to offset the cost of college. However, since we are separate from the University, please familiarize yourself with how this process works.

Residents who will use student aid (grants, loans, scholarships) to pay for their housing may request a Deferred Payment Agreement. Those who qualify will be able to defer a portion of their rent until the first week of classes after financial aid refunds have been processed. Returning residents must complete this process each year. If you wish to be considered for a deferred payment, the instructions are available here:  http://bit.ly/2fhBZQz. Please note: ALL INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN JULY 1, 2017!

Q. I have decided not to attend UNC; how do I cancel my lease?
A.  If you decide to attend a different university/college, please send proof of enrollment at the other school to salesgranville@edrtrust.com. Usually, you can forward the receipt from where you paid the enrollment deposit to the new school.

Q. How does the roommate and suitemate matching work (AKA RoomSync)?
A. When the lease was e-signed by one of our managers, a copy of it was sent to the student and at lease one parent/guardian.  In that email, there were instructions for how to get on RoomSync, which is the exclusive software Granville uses for its residents. RoomSync is an application that exists on Facebook. The "Welcome to Granville Towers" email also contained a code for the resident to use to access the RoomSync program. Using RoomSync, the resident can search for potential roommates and suitemates as well as search out a specific person with whom they would like to live. If you need this email resent, please contact Allison at salesgranville@edrtrust.com . Finally, please keep in mind that the pool of potential roommates/suitemates will grow as more students create their profiles. Many future residents have not joined yet since they are trying to finish their Spring semesters strong at high school or college!

Q. Can I change my meal plan and/or payment schedule?
A. Yes! You may change your meal plan (increase or decrease) between now and June 30. After that point, you may only increase it (120 block meals to 14 meals per week, 120 block or 14 meals per week to unlimited). To request a meal plan change, complete the following form. If you need to switch from monthly installments to semester payments or vice versa, complete the previously mentioned form. In both cases, she will draft a lease amendment and email it to the student to sign. We must receive the signed amendment back in order to process your change request.

Q. When are Room & Board payments due?
A. Regardless of which payment schedule you selected (consult page 2 of your lease), everyone has a payment due no later than July 1, 2017! We accept payment several different ways. Read more about those options here:  http://bit.ly/2fhutFC. For specific instructions regarding how to make an online payment, please click here:  http://bit.ly/2lfTLY6.

Q. How much do I owe for Room and Board?
A.  Your lease contains all of this information. The front page of your lease shows your room type, and the second page lists out the amount owed and on what dates. It also shows which meal plan you selected. If you have modified the terms of your lease in any way (room type change, payment schedule, or meal plan change), then you will consult your lease amendment for this information.

Q. When will I receive my room assignment?
A. Room assignments will be distributed on July 10 and July 11.  Your student will receive a room assignment with the tower and room number of his/her room for the 2017-2018 academic year. This process involves a large amount of outgoing emails, so we ask for your patience and cooperation. If your student does not receive his/her assignment, please email granvilleroomsync@gmail.com .  Also note that we will use the email listed on your student ' s application; if this needs to be changed, email granvilleroomsync@gmail.com .

Q. What proof of insurance is required and when?
A. The Granville Towers lease requires that you provide proof of liability insurance. We recommend sending this between July 15 - August 15. You can email your proof of insurance to Allison at  salesgranville@edrtrust.com. Please type in the subject heading INSURANCE.

Note: General liability insurance can sometimes be extended from the parent's homeowner's policy. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider to determine if this is an option. Liability insurance can also be purchased under a renter's insurance policy, which is typically inexpensive. The EdR preferred provider is Multifamily Insurance Partners. You can visit their website at  www.MFIPSTUDENT.com . The benefit to purchasing insurance through MFIP is that it will automatically meet our minimum requirements and you DO NOT have to send in proof of liability insurance (the company will take care of this on your behalf).

Q. When is move-in?
A.  We split move-in days based on whether you are a new or returning resident to Granville. New residents can pick from one of the following days:
Thursday- August 17, Friday- August 18, and Saturday- August 19
Returning residents (those who have lived in Granville before) may move in beginning on Wednesday- August 16.

More information about the move-in process will be sent to you over the summer. Please keep in mind you do not need to notify us which day you choose to arrive.

Q. When do classes begin?
A.  The first day of classes is Tuesday, August 22!

Q. Do you have information about room dimensions or what items to bring/leave at home?
A. Yes, we do! We have created this comprehensive Granville Guide which will explain how move-in works, room dimensions, and much, much more. We strongly recommend downloading this helpful resource guide as you prepare for the year ahead.

Q. How do students decorate their rooms?
A. This answer varies, but we have compiled this Pinterest album which will show you photos of our actual residents' rooms. Check these out for inspiration!
