GOVERNOR SIGNS READY IN 6 BILLS

​The General Assembly carried on with their work this week with three legislative days left next week. A highlight was the Governor signed HB102 (Entrance Permits) and HB104 (PLUS) this week. Notable bills that saw movement:

HB99 - Delaware Climate Change Solutions Act: Released from Senate Environment, Energy & Transportation Committee and placed on the Senate Ready List | Position: Support based on amended language

HB171 - Title V Operating Permit Program: Released from Senate Environment, Energy & Transportation Committee and placed on the Senate Ready List | Position: Support

HS2 for HB160 - 988 Surcharge: Released from Senate Health and Social Services Committee and placed on the Senate Ready List | Position: Opposed and seeking amendments

SB51 - Polystyrene: Passed the House with HA1, HA2, and HA4 and returns to the Senate for consideration | Position: Opposed

KICKS OFF WITH A
FULL PROGRAM

Our fourth Intern Delaware cohort has arrived! With more than 150 interns registered and rearing to go, the program is already off to a great start. Intern Delaware plays a key role in retaining and boosting Delaware's workforce through an eight-week program designed to show emerging talent how the First State can be the ideal place to launch a career and start a life. Through participating in skills workshops, interacting with some of Delaware’s most distinguished stakeholders, and learning the wonders of the “Delaware Way,” each intern will leave the program with a better understanding of what the First State has to offer. BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF DELAWARE

All Delaware youth deserve a chance to shine their brightest. Unfortunately, not every child has access to positive role models. These youth often struggle to develop confidence in goals, interests, and even themselves. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware (BBBSDE)—a member affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America—serves to fill this gap by providing specially trained and vetted mentors to meet the unique needs of 1,400 at-risk children every year.

As the oldest one-to-one mentoring organization in Delaware, BBBSDE has built a foundation on perfecting their evidence-based approach since 1964. Read more >
