May Governing Board Update


Greetings from your MCC Governing Board. We hope that everyone is finding ways to celebrate the Resurrection during this Easter season. 


The MCC Governing Board met on 5 May 2026. Rev. Elder Mark Byrd opened the meeting in prayer. 


Actions: 


Other Business:

  • Approved a motion to set a Business Forum for 3 October 2026 and a Special General Conference/Business Meeting for 10 October 2026 for the purpose of considering recommendations by the Commission on General Conference.
  • Tasked governors Dr. Léo Rossetti and Rev. Marie Alford-Harkey with a first draft of the Governing Board impact statement on the bylaw proposal.
  • Passed a motion to allow all affiliated churches who are up to date with assessments and Board of Pension payments (as applicable) by the end of June 2026 to vote at the Special General Conference. The motion further specified that churches will have until 15 August 2026 to become compliant.
  • Authorized $618 USD from MCC Justice Designated Fund to support the Kids Gear Infant School and Orphanage in Uganda, Africa.
  • Authorized the Governing Board Clerk and Treasurer to coordinate the sale of the business condominium owned by MCC in Sarasota, Florida, USA, subject to appropriate market conditions and due diligence.
  • Amended Governing Board Policy #13 (if approved by the Governance Committee) to require that at least one elected officer of the Governing Board be a US citizen with a Social Security Number in order to be a signatory for MCC’s official documents, as MCC is a 501c3 registered in California, USA.
  • Amended Governing Board Policy #20 (if approved by the Governance Committee) to revise the distribution of unrestricted cash received from bequests, planned gifts, and/or church closures as follows:
  • Innovation Fund: from 10% to 5%
  • Benevolence Fund: from 0% to 2.5%
  • Disaster Relief Fund: from 0% to 2.5%
  • The Governors requested that the policy distribution be revisited once the Endowment reaches $1,000,000 USD.
  • Appointed Fred Cannady-Kelderman to the Governance Committee.
