Expansion of the King's Bench Civil Search Portal to Include No Fee/Fee Exempt Searches for Eligible Parties
Effective Oct. 18, 2024, the Court of King’s Bench Civil Search Portal will expand to include No Fee/Fee Exempt Searches for eligible parties.
Eligible Parties
Eligible parties that can submit no fee/fee exempt search requests include:
- Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission
- Alberta Surface Rights Board
- Government of Alberta Organizations (funded under General Revenue)
- Legal Aid (Legal Aid Certificate must be filed)
- Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) (only during execution of duties)
- Peace Officers (only during execution of duties)
- Provincial Crown Prosecutors
- Public Trustee (exceptions may apply)
Grace Period
There will be a two-week grace period for eligible parties to be notified of this change. After this period, King’s Bench Operations will return any eligible email submissions and advise parties to resubmit using the online search portal.
