Statement  from New SBA Administrator
Jovita Carranza

It is my honor and privilege to return to the SBA as the Agency's 26th Administrator. I'm thrilled to have been selected by President Trump, and I look forward to serving America's entrepreneurs.
With historically low unemployment and soaring small business optimism, this is such an exciting time for small business owners in America, and I'm determined to leverage the power of the SBA to help bring even more prosperity to America's small businesses.

Our nation's entrepreneurs are innovators, risk-takers, and the catalyst for employment opportunities within their communities.

In particular, I look forward to helping elevate female entrepreneurs and our military veterans, expanding access to SBA resources among entrepreneurs in disadvantaged communities, and continuing to prioritize disaster relief.

As the voice for America's 30 million small businesses, I'm eager to advocate on your behalf as a member of the President's Cabinet.

New Patent Trial and Appeal Board Toolkit Now Available.
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) is committed to expanding resources available to individual inventors, small businesses, and those new to or with limited experience with the patenting process. As part of effort, PTAB has prepared a " New to PTAB " toolkit available on the PTAB webpage of the United States Patent and Trademark Office website.

The    toolkit  contains a wide variety of information about PTAB and its proceedings. For example, the toolkit walks through the basics of how to file an ex parte appeal to seek review of a final rejection made by an examiner. The toolkit also details the various steps involved in post-grant proceedings, such as an inter partes review, and what options the parties have at each step to make their case. Additionally, the toolkit features videos and frequently asked questions including how to prepare for and present arguments at an oral hearing. Best of all, the toolkit provides points of contact for follow-up questions.

Check out the New to PTAB  toolkit today. If you have suggestions on additional resources PTAB can make available regarding their proceedings, please email them at  trials @uspto.gov .

What's My NAICS Code?
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.

NAICS was developed under the auspices of the Office of Management and Budget and adopted in 1997 to replace the Standard Industrial Classification system. It was developed jointly by the U.S. Economic Classification Policy Committee, Statistics Canada, and Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia, to allow for a high level of comparability in business statistics among the North American countries.

You can determine which NAICS Code(s) work best for your business by using the search feature at the U.S. Census Bureau NAICS website

Make sure you use the 2017 NAICS Search feature.

Social media can be a huge contributor to a company's  lead generation efforts  in both B2B and B2C. But how efficient are the different social channels in directly driving leads? In a recent study of over 5,000 businesses, HubSpot found that traffic from LinkedIn generated the highest visitor-to-lead conversion rate at 2.74%, almost 3 times higher (277%) than both Twitter (.69%) and Facebook (.77%).
