Is Your Business Prepared?
If and when “the big one” comes near, Chamber Staff will be stationed at the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center (ESF 18). We MIGHT be calling different businesses to assist in the recovery effort with products or services.
We’re also updating our list of hotels/motels to participate in the Emergency Lodging Assistance (ELA) program. It serves to house LOCAL individuals who were displaced from their homes or apartments. Upon receiving a designated FEMA number, these individuals’ lodging tab is paid by FEMA. Any hotels/motels interested in becoming an ELA property should contact Jim Cameron at 566-2140.

Chamber Tallahassee Speaker Series
Chamber to Host Workforce Housing Summit
November 29, 3:30 - 5:30 pm (location tba)

Guest Speaker - Trey Price, Executive Director, Florida Housing Finance Corp and others....

Housing for local "frontline employees" has become a major issue. The United Way's ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) reports 43 % of Volusia population lives paycheck to paycheck.

One of the Chamber's 2018 priorities is to bring down costs for those paying 50-60 % of their paycheck for housing.

While some national groups are promoting a $15 minimum wage, the Chamber wants to focus on bridging the current LOCAL market wages along with affordable housing costs.

A Social Hour will follow the event. More information will be forthcoming!
