Leaders,

First, thank you for your continued support as we work through the government shutdown. We are thinking of our members who have been impacted by the shutdown since October 1. We know this is a time of uncertainty and understand the lack of funding has an impact on activities in the field as well as at the headquarters. As the government shutdown continues, we have added some updates to our Frequently Asked Questions page. We encourage you to visit the site.  

Here are some recent updates we would like to highlight: 

• If Congress does not pass a continuing resolution, end the current shutdown, or we do not receive additional funding, Civil Air Patrol will begin a furlough for employees starting November 9th. Please keep our employees in mind during this challenging time. We are exploring every workable way to minimize disruptions. Ensuring CAP keeps operating will require all of us working as one team to support the organization. We will be calling on volunteers in the field, utilizing our National Staff members, and retaining a small number of employees for continuity. 
• Clarification has been added to the FAQ about processing new memberships.

Please continue to seek answers through your chain of command, but if further clarification is needed, use ask@capnhq.gov as a single point of contact for questions related to activities and operations during the shutdown period. The Frequently Asked Questions linked at nhq.cap.gov will continue to be updated. 

What can you do? 

Your meetings save lives and shape futures. Keep having them. Continue to offer engaging opportunities for our members. For most members, the weekly unit meeting is a critical engagement.

Aircraft: Our Logistics and Operations teams are releasing additional guidance regarding mission readiness for aircraft. More information is being sent to Region and Wing Commanders on this topic. 

Financial Prudence: Continue to be a good steward of funds.
