Today, Governor Cooper outlined a $4 billion budget plan to use COVID-19 relief funds for immediate needs and state resources during the coronavirus pandemic. |

Registration Open For ServSafe Classes in February and May
Hot off the press! Visit High Point, in partnership with Raise-the-Grade, will be hosting two ServSafe Classes. One will be Thursday, February 18th and the other will be Thursday, May 13th. Both will be held at the Visitors Center from 8:30am-5pm. Space is limited due to social distancing guidelines so early registration is encouraged.

Let's Play Ball - Atlantic League Announces Opening Day
The Atlantic League announced this week that it will open its 23rd official Championship Season on May 28, 2021. They are still working on additional details of the 2021 season, including COVID-19 related safety protocols, however, league officials were eager to announce the season's start date. In addition, the High Point Rockers announced yesterday that Jamie Keefe will be returning as the manager for the High Point Rockers!

Guilford CARES Emergency Rental & Utilities Assistance Program
Guilford County has just received $12.5 million for rental/utility assistance for residents of High Point and Guilford County. These funds are from the $900 billion relief package passed by the US Congress in December 2020. Assistance can last 12-15 months. Piedmont Triad Partnership Names Loren Hill Carolina Core Regional Economic Development Director
In an effort to further enhance regional collaboration and attract new jobs and investment in central North Carolina, the Piedmont Triad Partnership (PTP) announced that Loren Hill will be joining the team as Carolina Core Regional Economic Development Director. In his new role, Hill will be enhancing PTP's collaborative efforts in the Carolina Core, while increasing visibility of the region and it globally competitive assets.

High Point Arts Council Hosts African Arts & Culture Day
Sunday, February 7th | 2pm - 4pm
The High Point Arts Council will present an African-themed event for an afternoon of cultural learning and celebration. This event will feature music, art, clothing, crafts, and stories from various African cultures. This will be a pay-as-you-can event at the Centennial Station Arts Center. Tickets are no cost, but are required as attendance is limited due to COVID restrictions. This event will also be livestreamed for people who would prefer to experience it in their own home. This event will also be live-streamed on the High Point Arts Council Facebook page.

High Point Museum Hosts Black History Month Trivia Contest
Questions Posted Every Monday at 8am and are due no later than Friday at 5pm
How well do you know your Black history? Questions will be posted to the High Point Museum Facebook page each Monday at 8am and you must submit your answers by 5pm each Friday. One winner each week will be awarded based on the entry with the most correct answers. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected by a drawing. Each weekly winner will receive a free individual membership to the High Point Historical Society & a coupon for 10% off purchase of “Our Roots, Our Branches, Our Fruits of Knowledge – Black Schools of High Point & Surrounding Area 1868-1968” book by local historian Glenn Chavis.
