Governor Kelly seeks input from business leaders
Governor Laura Kelly  invited twenty area business leaders to participate in a conference call yesterday to seek input about how to facilitate the next step in recovery from the pandemic crisis. The Governor and members of her staff spent thirty minutes with the group of Wichita leaders, led by our Chamber Chair, Junetta Everett. Read more about the discussion on our blog.

Governor signs two Executive Orders in ongoing COVID-19 response
Governor Laura Kelly today signed two new Executive Orders to help the state’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Order #20-26 temporarily waives physician supervision or collaboration requirements for certain medical licensees, including advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants and licensed practical nurses.

Executive Order #20-27 allows the sale of alcoholic beverages for carryout consumption and permits the sale of liquor in a container that is not the original container for any establishment holding a class A club license, class B club license or drinking establishment license.

Fourth COVID-19 aid bill expected to pass
The U.S. Senate approved a fourth COVID-19 aid bill on Tuesday afternoon. The U.S. House of Representatives will be voting to send the bill to President Trump for approval.

Additional funding for relief in the bill is outlined below.
  • Additional $210 billion to the Paycheck Protection Program
  • Additional $10 billion to the SBA's Economic Injury Disaster Loan program
  • $75 billion in relief for hospitals across the country
  • $25 billion to develop and expand testing capability across the country
Good Deeds in Hard Times
ONE Gas, Inc. announced that its Kansas Gas Service division will be presenting $70,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations across the state to provide relief assistance to those directly impacted by the coronavirus.
The grants will go to Topeka Community Foundation, United Way of Greater Kansas City, Wichita Community Foundation and Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. Read details here .
