Governor Murphy has just announced a new executive order that would shut down many parts of the construction industry. Pursuant to his Executive Order, all non essential construction must cease indefinitely by 8:00 p.m on Friday. Exceptions to this shut down include: projects in hospitals, schools, transportation sector, utility sector, affordable housing, other individual housing sites that can adhere to strict limits on number of workers on site at any given time, emergency work and repairs needed to safely secure a construction site, and other limited instances. The text of the Executive Order is not available at this time, and once it is available, we will be able to provide additional clarity on these exceptions. We expect to receive a copy of the executive later today and we will circulate it once we receive it.

NJBA leadership team is convening to discuss how the industry responds to this recent news and develop next steps.
