Dear Behavioral Health Colleagues,
In times like these, CBHA remembers the legacy of our long time leader, Rusty Selix, co-author of the MHSA. Rusty and then State legislator Darrell Steinberg worked together to envision the MHSA and its legacy, amongst several other key initiatives that have undoubtedly transformed the fabric of the mental health service delivery system in California.
As the Governor and state and local leaders explore options for how the MHSA should be modernized, we stand committed to voicing the experiences of the safety net providers who work in the trenches to provide services to clients. We look forward to continued conversations as the proposal is developed, and want to share with the community our background document on the MHSA and the tenets we believe should be considered during this time of proposed revision to the MHSA.
