What the Flock is Going On?

Join Palo Verde Republican Women for a timely conversation about the technology appearing on our roads - and what it means for Arizona drivers.

Jay Beeber, Executive Director of Policy for the National Motorists Association, will discuss Prop. 141, the Freedom to Move measure, and Prop. 319, the photo enforcement measure. He’ll explain the measures and share the motorist’s perspective on photo radar, red-light cameras, and automated ticketing. The NMA’s broader transportation concerns include right-turn-on-red restrictions, electric vehicle choice, school bus cameras, and Vision Zero.

We will also discuss Flock and other license plate readers. These systems raise questions about how vehicle data is collected, who can access it, how long it is kept, and what safeguards prevent misuse. As the National Motorists Association warns, license plate readers can track innocent motorists, expose sensitive personal details, and contribute to dangerous stops when a system produces a false match.

Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan will share his perspective on Prop. 319 and on license plate readers in law enforcement. His views will add a law enforcement perspective to the debate over public safety, privacy, access, and oversight. Sheriff Sheridan will also explain Prop. 413 regarding the renewal for Maricopa County jails.
