Helping People on their Path to Recovery
While Recovery Month has passed, recovery services are part of Manet's comprehensive complement of integrated programs and services year-round. Manet has many team members who directly or indirectly support individuals who struggle with addiction and help them along their path to recovery. Let us introduce a few of them to you.
Jaimie Sprague, Manager of Manet’s Prevention Services Program, leads a team of Prevention Specialists who work with clients and community residents to help reduce their risk for overdose, HIV, Hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This works puts in her contact with many people in or considering recovery.

“Recovery looks different for everybody,” Jaimie says. "Whether they choose abstinence or reduction of drug use, group or individual counseling, or a combination of all options, people are different. Recovery is a very individual process, but there are tons of recovery communities out there with people who can relate to your situation. Not everyone who uses drugs has a substance use disorder or identifies as in recovery, and there are excellent resources at Manet and in the community to help you through your journey, regardless of how you define your relationship with substance use.”
Sarah Laurianno is a Recovery Support Navigator who provides care management and system navigation supports to patients with substance use disorder (SUD), helping them to explore treatment options and clarify goals and strategies. She also provides education, assists with access to treatment or community resources and maintains ongoing patient support, regardless of relapse -- serving as a motivator, ally, role model, problem-solver, and advocate for patients.

Sarah understands that the path to recovery needs to be taken at an individual's own pace. “If someone is not quite ready to commit fully to sobriety yet, that’s okay," She explains. "The resources to help support them on that journey will be there when they are ready to use them, and being the person who's there for them to help them navigate the process is really rewarding.”
As a Recovery Coach, Ian MacDonald works with individuals at the beginning of their recovery process, helping them to devise a recovery wellness plan based on their own ideas and goals.

“It’s not someone telling someone, 'You should do X,Y and Z,'" he explains. "It’s helping them come to the realization that this is what [they] want to do.”

Ian's passion for helping people in recovery stems from his personal experiences. He explains in the video at right.
