How do Wauconda Area Library patrons get materials?

  1. Place items on hold starting Monday, June 22
  2. When your hold comes in, schedule a pickup time
  3. During your pickup time, walk up the ramp and pick up your materials from the staff member

1. Place Items on Hold
2. Schedule a Pickup Time
  • You will receive a hold notification when your items are ready. This notification will also indicate we are ready to schedule your pickup time.
  • Schedule your time by calling the Library at (847) 526-6225 to choose a reservation before your hold expires
  • Please avoid an unnecessary trip to the Library by coming only during your scheduled pick up time
3. When You Arrive
  • Park anywhere in the Library's parking lot
  • Follow signage to walk up the far ramp and be mindful of ground markings to maintain social distance
  • We ask that you wear a mask when interacting with staff
  • At the top of the ramp a Library staff member will ask for your name and then retrieve your held items for you
  • The Library staff member will confirm your phone number on file and place the items that have been checked out to your account on a table for you to collect
  • Materials are currently available for Wauconda Area Library cardholders only. If you live in district but do not have a card please apply online.
  • All items currently checked out have due dates extended to June 30
  • No items are currently accruing fines
  • After you return your items they will remain on your account for up to 8 days
  • Our parking lot and front entrance book drops are open for returns but our remote book drops remain closed
  • Please call the Library at (847) 526-6225 if you are returning large items like Tech2Go, telescopes, STEM kits, and Can Do kits
  • Items currently unavailable to check out include: Launchpads, Playaways, Backpacks, Tech2Go (excluding wifi hotspots and Rokus), and Great Courses
  • All items are quarantined for 7 days upon returning
  • All staff members are equipped with PPE/social distancing training and equipment
  • The Library has resumed contact free Homebound Delivery service. For more information, please contact the Library at (847) 526-6225.
