The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
-Exodus 14:14-
I don’t like to be still, do you?
Our duties call for action, progress, and movement. Like water in a stream, we are always searching for the most efficient route to accomplish the many tasks of our days. We all are busy and sitting still is often not on the top of our to-do list.
Yesterday evening, I chose to grab a bite and just sit on the edge of a small mountain lake and be still. I was stunned by the peaceful setting. The water’s surface was so still you would have thought a mirror was laid in this little rocky mountain valley reflecting the surrounding hills. I realized I hadn’t just sat still for a long time. As I gazed at the reflection, I saw a small wake disturbing the perfectly still water. Assuming there were no submarines stationed in the area, I suspected it must be a beaver. Then I saw another wake maybe 10 yards away. Unless the U.S. Navy has a secret parking lot for subs, I figured it was another beaver. Then I saw another wake, this one closer than the others, and my suspicions were confirmed. Then the fourth! It was a flotilla of furry creatures, God’s creatures, busy at work. We are creatures too, never wanting to be still, and yet, God gives an unexpected command through Moses to his people.
They had fled Pharaoh and the chains of slavery with nothing but blue skies and freedom in front of them. The Lord told Moses to set up camp at the edge of the sea. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he sent an army, his entire army mind you, of chariots and men to pursue the Israelites whose backs were against a sprawling sea. They were trapped with no place to go. Certain death awaited them. Then our Lord, through Moses, gave a command that was completely unexpected.
“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
– Exodus 14:13-14
You know the rest of the story. God’s people were rescued, not because they did anything but because they just stood still while God did the saving. This is a foreshadowing of what Jesus did for you. Maybe today you feel like you are backed against a sea. There must be something do to, a problem to solve, a battle to be won.
I have really wonderful news for you today. The Lord sent Jesus to do something for you! He died on a cross to solve, forever mind you, the problem of sin’s consequences and give you the victory through him. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Thanks be to God!
Join us Sunday as we hear God’s unexpected command and his incredible promise to you.
I can’t wait!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7

What is The Truth Project?
The Truth Project is a small group video curriculum designed to build a systematic and comprehensive biblical worldview in the lives of believers. Each lesson looks at life from a biblical perspective, studying the very nature and character of God and how He has revealed Himself to us.
Why The Truth Project?
According to the Barna Research Group, only 9 percent of born-again believers hold a biblical worldview. In essence, the church as a whole does not believe what it says it believes. Therefore, divorce rates, addictions, etc. mirror our culture, and a large portion of church-goers live a life devoid of purpose. Focus on the Family believes this curriculum, through God’s transformational power, can assist in reintroducing the Body of Christ to a life lived with meaning, purpose, and value which ultimately makes a difference in our modern world.
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love of the Father is not in them.”
1 John 2:15
Prayer
We want prayer to be the foundation of this group. The power that the lies of the world, the flesh, and the devil have in the lives of those around us – so powerful in many cases that only the faithful, persistent prayer of the saints can break the stronghold. God continues to transform lives when we invite Him to do so. Our prayers and petitions are vital to the work God wants to do in transforming lives. Take time each week to pray for each other.

A place to give and a place to receive
The local community market is working to improve healthy food access in our community by rescuing food from local grocery stores, local farmers and redistributing it to any and all local families. In this way, they're reducing food waste while also making good food more accessible.
This outreach opportunity gives our church the chance to actively show the love of Jesus just up the road and in our community at large!
🍎What do our wonderful Market Assistant volunteers take care of?
Stocking the market and produce shelves, unloading and sorting grocery rescue donations, repackaging bulk food items, packing dry food boxes for community distribution, sorting produce boxes, composting food and recycling containers, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces along with many other jobs within the shifts that can be of help.
