Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
-Proverbs 22:6
Mother's Day and Father's Day are very different, aren't they? Mother's Day church is filled with roses, smiles, and appreciation videos. For some lucky mothers, the day starts with breakfast in bed. For others, it is a restaurant brunch. Still, others get that once-a-year sleep-in.
Father's Day is different. I remember growing up listening to the pastor talk about being a "better" father, the father God wants you to be. It's very true, but also very different from Mother's Day. Imagine the day a pastor preaches to the mothers about being a "better" mother. Wow, that would be a sight to behold. LOL!
The truth is, that Dads DO have a tremendous obligation to lead their household, to be the "Man of the House." There is nothing wrong with that, in fact, it is God's idea. A man should “keep his children under control with dignity (1 Timothy 3:5), and a man should provide for his family (1 Timothy 5:8). Husbands should honor their wives (1 Peter 3:7). Husbands should also lead their households (Ephesians 5:22-33). Joshua proclaimed to all the people of Israel at Shechem that they could choose whom they would serve, "but as for me and my house (family), we will serve the Lord." (see Joshua 14:14-15). What an honor and joy it is to be a dad!!!
So yes dads, lead and love your wives and children - lead them boldly and courageously always pointing them to Jesus- it’s an assignment given to us by our loving Lord.
Fathers, you have sacrificed so much and worked so hard. Don't ever forget God has given you one of life's most precious gifts - a child. Happy Father’s Day weekend!
See you Sunday as we celebrate the Victory we have in Christ Jesus our Lord. I can't wait!
Pastor Austin
I am so blessed to be the father to Brookelyn, Kaylie, Kaden, Brady, and Father-in-Law to Caleb. I love you all so much. - Dad

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
