 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and

do not live out the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he

is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and

the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

- 1 John 1:5-7-

Κοινωνία (Greek) = Fellowship 

The Election is now over and Donald Trump has been named the 47th President of the United States of America. Some voted for Trump, others voted for Harris, still others voted for independents. Though we may sometimes disagree on political issues, we are thankful as Americans for the ability to participate in the process. We are so blessed to live in a free country. 

But there is one thing ALL Christians agree on …. “Jesus is Lord.” The Apostle Paul declared,  

 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9 

No political labels, no restrictions on how you voted, and no hidden agendas. We, as Christians, participate in one common Savior. 

The Apostle John uses the word Κοινωνία, (Koinonia) to emphasize this. Koinonia, means participation in a common thing, or in this case, sharing participation in a common person- Jesus Christ. This fellowship comes in two dimensions- fellowship with God, and fellowship with one another. We have this in common!  Our relationship starts with knowing that we are all sinful creatures.  

Bonnie Petroschuk states, 

Community is born in the mutual admission that we humans are an evil and untrustworthy bunch who are deeply loved and irrevocably forgiven by a good and trustworthy God. 

What a joy it is to participate together and share our joy in Christ as we receive his Holy Supper, given and shed for us for the forgiveness of our sins. We don’t do this alone, we do this in fellowship with God and fellowship with one another - Κοινωνία! See you Sunday as we unite as God’s people under one Lord Jesus Christ who still sits on the throne.

• Grab a shoebox on Sunday. Pick a boy or a girl (or both!) to fill the box with goodies and needed supplies.

• Bring back your filled shoeboxes (and a $10 donation check to Samaritan's Purse to help cover the cost of evangelism materials, shipping, and more) NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH. Please place your check into your shoebox gift and it will be processed with your box.

• Boxes that are collected will be dropped off at a local collection site where they will then be shipped all over the world to bring Good News of Great Joy to thousands of children!
