This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. 7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

- Jeremiah 17:5-8 -

Did you know there is a World Happiness Report? Seriously, there is. According to the most recent report shared by Focus on the Family, The United States of America ranks as the 10th happiest nation- not great, but ok. The terrifying news is that American youth ranked 62nd in overall happiness, with larger declines than youth in Palestine, Ukraine, and even Iraq.

We live in a nation where our youth are sad. When I read our Lord’s words in Jeremiah, I can’t help but wonder if it is because so many people put their trust and confidence in other people and themselves in place of God. Church attendance is drastically declining and so is happiness. Let us pray that our Lord Jesus calls people especially our youth, to Himself so that they may know Him, hear His wonderful promises of forgiveness and eternal life, and put their confidence in Him.

Our Lord makes it clear when we put our confidence in mankind, we are miserable. We are rooted in Christ Jesus who sustains us in hard times, nourishes us in His Word and sacrament, and never ever fails us. The result? Happiness.

Sunday we continue our series - Jesus is MORE. Let us rejoice!

Pastor Austin

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, be with our youth, call them to You, and give them happiness. AMEN

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Don't miss this chance to Get Connected!

I am excited to announce our membership classes titled “Connected in Christ.”  This will be an opportunity for THE ENTIRE congregation to unite together in classes as we learn and grow.  In four 30-minute sessions, we will cover topics such as God’s overall redemption story, tools for study, our desperate need for salvation, and God’s answer.  We will discuss law and Gospel,  the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, and our profession of faith, the Apostle's Creed.  We will reflect on the gifts God has given us including his sacraments of Baptism and Communion, and His church.  We will also discuss our church Grace Fellowship, and our mission to Proclaim, Nurture, and Serve in the name of Jesus.

This is a joyous time to be at Grace Fellowship, as we establish our formal membership list for voting on church matters at our congregational meetings, and prepare to move into the construction phase of our future building.

I am asking that ALL of us attend all four classes as we formally establish our membership list preparing to move into our new building.  Class dates and times are listed above.  If you are out of town, please contact me at Austin@GraceGypsum.com and we can set up a private 30-minute class for your family.  Membership is not exclusive, it is inclusive and all are invited to attend, learn, grow, and share in the confession of faith together.   Exciting!
