Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- Matthew 28:18-20-
Last Sunday, I was in awe of what our Lord did, it was more than I could fathom.
Some time ago, my daughter Brookelyn and son-in-law Caleb, asked me to be a part of the baptism of their new precious twin girls, Tatum and Wylder. I cried tears of thankfulness and tremendous joy knowing they were bringing my granddaughters to the Lord. Sunday, I was so honored to be a part of the church service and welcomed by Pastor John at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.
My other daughter, Kaylie, and her fiance Micah, attend another church in Phoenix and I could not be more proud - two families of faith! As I flew home I caught myself smiling remembering two families the Apostle Luke describes in Acts chapter 16. The first was a wonderful woman of faith named Lydia. She heard the Gospel and she and her family were baptized. The second was a jailer, shocked and stunned by the faith he saw from prisoners, and the mighty deeds of the Lord. He listened to the disciples and believed. He took them into his home and immediately he and all his family were baptized.
I shared Sunday that those precious, beautiful little girls do nothing to contribute to their lives. They poop, they pee, they burp, and they eat - mom and dad do it all because they love them! So it is with our salvation. God does the work of saving because he loves us. What a gift salvation is!
Thank you, Pastor John, for faithfully shepherding our family and being their spiritual leader and teacher. Brookelyn and Caleb, well done bringing your children to the Lord! Sunday was a very special day.
It is so great to be home! This Sunday, we conclude our series on the mountain where Jesus is transfigured before His disciples! Just when you think you know who Jesus is, he is more, MORE than you can fathom.
See you Sunday - I can’t wait!!
Pastor Austin
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank you for your wondrous gift of baptism where your grace-filled waters wash us clean, and mark us as your very own. We are so very blessed.
