"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
- Genesis 50:20-
It should be Rated “R” for violence and nudity.
That’s right, the end of Genesis is filled with heart-throbbing suspense and drama. Chapter 3 of The Story has everything anyone could ask for in a drama. Steamy seduction, betrayal, attempted murder, and prison all appear in the most compelling ways. The chapter starts with Joseph who is thrown into a pit by his own brothers then sold into slavery. He travels through slavery, promotion, accusation, prison and ends up getting promoted to the highest job in the land. From pit to palace, God was with him all the way!
The best part? God saves all of Egypt from dying of hunger through his servant Joseph who later tells his brothers, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."(Genesis 50:20). Though they didn’t deserve it, Joseph forgives his brothers, feeds them, and gives them all they ever need.
In 1968 the MPAA, or Motion Picture Association of America developed and established a system to rate motion pictures to use as a general guide for parents to determine whether a movie is too intense or too grown up for their children. As you know, the determination of the ratings has varied tremendously over the years, but children under the age of 17 are not supposed to see “Restricted” movies without an adult.
When it comes to God’s grace THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS!! No sinner can escape God’s grace and mercy. Though we don’t deserve it, Jesus was crucified and nailed to a cross for me and for you. What others intended for harm, God intended for good! The story of Joseph shows the great lengths God will go to to save many lives.
See you Sunday, as we see the drama of Joseph unfold from pit to palace.
I can’t wait!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
