“I am the resurrection and the life," says the Lord. “He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”
John 11:25-26

Robert (Bob) Blake, my father-in-law, called his daughter, my wife, Saturday night. Missy and Bob had a wonderful talk. Missy came upstairs and sat in bed next to me so I could hear. These past several months, Bob has been fighting with his liver which was failing him. He asked us all to come to Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving so we could all be together. He was so happy that everyone was together on Thanksgiving, where the family praised God and loved one another.

Saturday night, on the phone, through tears, Bob shared how proud he was…so proud of his daughter Melissa, and sons Shawn and Derek and their children. Bob said something else, he was tired of fighting, tired of being in pain, and “ready to go.” Bob said he was looking forward to being with Jesus, when Jesus was ready for him.

When Jesus was ready.”

What a profound statement of a faith-filled man. My father-in-law knew his life, and his death lay in the arms of his Creator and his Savior.

Yesterday morning, at 8:30am, in room 26 of the St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room, Jesus was ready for him to be at peace. God’s timing was uncertain, but our family trusts His timing was perfect.

It is with saddened hearts we mourn his temporary departure, but we glorify the Lord knowing the sure hope of a heavenly reunion at the resurrection. Bob’s Savior is our Savior too, and we rest in our Lord’s promise, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Thanks be to God!

We are sincerely thankful for your prayers and your love through this time. We are so thankful for all of you and we look forward to Sunday as we worship Jesus together with our church family.

Sunday, we continue our Advent sermon series titled God's Perfect Timing- Uncertain Times. God's timing is not always our timing, but His timing is always perfect.

I can’t wait!

PS. I loved how Bob always called me “Austie.” I will miss him.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

A message from Nicole Atencio...

Young Life is a youth ministry that has been in the valley for 13 years. Our mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Our hope is to give EVHS students from all walks of life the chance to know Jesus through Club, Campaigners, and Camp. We meet every Wednesday night, alternating between Club and Campaigners.

YL Club

Young Life Club is the larger group with fun events every week like mud volleyball, line dancing, capture the flag, skits, and more. This is a safe, relaxed, and non-threatening environment where kids can laugh, feel valued, and hear the Gospel. I encourage our youth at Grace Fellowship to come to YL Club and invite their friends who may have never had a chance to know Jesus.

YL Campaigners

Young Life Campaigners is a smaller, focused, and more intentional group where young people come together with the leaders to learn more about what it means to love and follow Jesus. We go deep into the word, discuss life and life with Jesus.
