Parents' Summer Book Club
The Spiritual Child by Lisa Miller, Phd.

Dr. Lisa Miller, professor of Clinical Psychology at Columbia University, has spent the past two decades researching the impact of spirituality on the development of young children and adolescents. The latest science clearly shows that spiritually active children have high levels of academic success. and are much less likely to struggle with depression and substance abuse.

So how does one raise a 'spiritual child?' Join other Grace parents (grandparents also welcome!) as we explore together Dr. Miller's findings, consider what they might mean in a Christian context, and discuss ways we might incorporate them into our own families.

You can buy the book here (locally!) and here. We will meet via Zoom three times over the summer, on Tuesdays: June 29, July 27 and August 31, at 8pm.

The Rector's Discretionary Fund
As the Grace Church community continues to deal with the aftereffects of a year of hardship for so many due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to ask parish members to consider making an offering to the Rector's Discretionary Fund.

With this fund, the Rector is able to help those in our community when they need it most.

If you would like to contribute to this important fund, you can do so by check or via our online payment system, Realm. Checks should be made out to Grace Church with "Rector's Discretionary Fund" in the memo.

COVID-19 Updates

Last week, NYS updated the guidelines on mask usage and lifted capacity limits for most spaces, including Houses of Worship. It is now up to individual churches to decide whether they will continue many COVID-19 restrictions.

Grace Church will continue to ask everyone to pre-register when possible before attending any worship services. We are still limiting capacity in the church, with most services being restricted to 75 people maximum. This weekend's 11am service and the June 5th confirmation service will allow 150 worshippers to attend.

In addition, we are still requiring everyone to wear a mask when inside the church and church offices. Ushers will continue to do temperature screenings and collect contact tracing information before each service. We also ask that each group space themselves at least 6 feet from others, as is required by NYS mandates.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding!

Giving to Grace
Thank you for your on-going support as we continue to worship remotely as well as in person. We are happy to let you know that you may make a pledge or general offering donations by text!

Please send a text to 73256 with the message "GraceBrooklyn". The first time, you will be prompted to provide your name and address, including your card number. If you save that information for future use, the second offering by text will be immediate. You may also make one-time pledge payments and general offering donations online here.

If you would like to set up a recurring pledge payment on Realm, please contact Melissa Kelly, parish administrator, for an invitation to join.
In Remembrance or Gratitude...

Altar flowers are a wonderful way to express gratitude for life's blessings or memorialize a loved one.

If you would like to contribute Altar flowers, please contact Marilyn Grant. An acknowledgment will be included in the service bulletin.
Parish Prayer Concerns

In thanksgiving for the great mystery of the Trinity. For Memorial Day: that—until wars cease altogether—God will strengthen and protect all those currently serving in the United States military, and also their families. For an end to injustice, wars and violence, especially gun violence, in this country and around the world. For a rejection of racial and religious bigotry and the use of excessive force in law enforcement. For better care for the earth’s resources. For all who are in need of our prayers, especially, Emiko; Godwin; Heleen; the Rev. John Musco; Ron & Betsy; Karen; Ginny; Sohee; Donald; Elizabeth; Karl B.; Aryiro, Eric & family; Richard B.; Jane K.; Richard & Linda F., those who suffer from COVID 19, and all who care for sick or aging loved ones. For those who have died, especially, Charles Harper Anderson and Guy Bergman, as well as the children and other civilians killed in the Israel/Gaza war, and those in our own country who died in shootings this past week.
Weekday Visits to Grace

To ensure your safety and maintain the workplace standards established by the Department of Health, we ask you to let us know ahead of time when you will be stopping in. When you visit please use the Clergy Door, which is the first door on your right in the Hicks Street courtyard. Sign the Visitors Log at the door (should we need to do any contact tracing), sanitize your hands and, as always, wear a mask.

To minimize traffic, particularly while children are at school, please refrain from moving through the Parish Hall. The restroom at the back of the sanctuary is available for your use. We thank you!
