Looking for Helping Hands for VBS This Sunday!
Can't make it to VBS, but still want to lend a hand?  Join us this Sunday, August 4, after church and help us finish up the decorations.  We need help carrying items, hanging décor, moving things, etc.  We'll be here all morning, afternoon and into the evening-so stop by for a bit whenever you have a little time.  We appreciate your help in transforming Grace into "Mars & Beyond" VBS!

This Week's Message: "Priorities"
It goes without saying that everyone has to make priorities in their lives. Issues arise due to the kinds of priorities we make for how we live. No one knew this better than Jesus. In this week's gospel, from Luke 12, Jesus talks all about priorities. He focused on one of the biggest, the role of money and possessions in our lives. Nothing can bring us closer to God than treating money and possessions in a godly fashion, and nothing can drive us from God more quickly than letting these things take control of our lives in a sinful, destructive manner. Jesus' words this week, as well as those from the Apostle Paul in Colossians 3, apply to each and every one of us in very real and personal ways.
Vacation Bible School Starts on Monday!
Our "To Mars & Beyond" VBS blasts off on Monday, August 5.  Grace will be welcoming over 150 students along with 75 volunteers to discover where God's power can take us. 
Thank you to everyone at Grace who has donated food, craft items and their time to make VBS an out of this world experience for everyone involved!  In addition to studying five Bible stories, our voyagers will also be collecting items for four local organizations: Family Promise, Family Sharing, Portal, Inc. and Tailwaggers 911. 
Join us on Sunday, August 11 at 9:00am for our VBS worship service.  We'll be showcasing the Bible stories and great music from the week.
Grace Blood Drive in Honor of Janell Hagerman
As she battled cancer, Grace member Janell Hagerman's own body turned against her.  Following chemo and needing a blood transplant, her body began making antibodies against blood platelets which led to severe nosebleeds.  She was matched with blood donors that specifically helped her, allowing Janell to receive the bone marrow transplant that saved her life.  Thanks be to God for the medicine and the donors who helped save Janell's life! 
On Monday, August 19 from 2-7pm, we are having a blood drive at Grace in honor of Janell.  When you give blood at this drive, you'll get a coupon for a free entrée when you purchase a Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage from Noodles & Company (while supplies last)!

Join Us at All Peoples on August 25
Plans are coming along for our "road trip" to All Peoples on Sunday, August 25. For many years our two congregations have had a partnership relationship. Members of All Peoples have come to visit and worship with us at Grace and we have done the same thing, traveling to worship at Second and Clark. On August 25 we will cancel our regular Sunday worship at Grace. We encourage all Grace members to make the journey to All Peoples to worship with them at their 10:00 a.m. service. This is a great way to strengthen our partnership relationship.
*There is a sign up sheet out, along with directions to All People's if you need them. If you need a ride there, there is a spot on the sign-up sheet up to let us know. If you can take riders, you'll be able to indicate that as well. Let's have a big group from Grace join All Peoples on this special day!
Could This be Music to Your Ears!?
The keyboard in the Worship Center is at least 25 years old and showing signs of age and wear. Beginning August 1st, we're launching a 'Sponsor a Key' campaign to fund the purchase of a new keyboard!
Here's how the campaign works:
Check out the piano keyboard diagram on the large bulletin board in the hallway next to the Worship Center. Select your favorite key and 'sponsor' that key with a donation of $45.
In appreciation, those who sponsor a key will receive a CD of beautiful music played on the new keyboard and recorded by Eryn. Don't forget to stop by the bulletin board and select your key! Thank you!!
Attention Parents of 3 Year Olds
If your child will be 3 by September 1, they are welcome to join us for Sunday School this fall!  Parents and their children will participate in Rally Sunday, the first day of Sunday School, together on Sunday, September 8.  More information will be coming in the mail, soon.  Contact Katie at if you have any questions. 
Backpack Blessing August 11
On Sunday, August 11 during our VBS worship service, all youth are invited to bring their backpacks to Grace for a special Backpack Blessing.  Whether your child participated in VBS or not, we encourage all students to bring their backpack to church.  We'll bless the backpacks and those that wear them before they head back to school in a few weeks.
Sign Up for the Outreach for Hope Bike Ride on September 7
Outreach for Hope is one of the important ministries in our Greater Milwaukee Synod. It works to support inner-city congregations and ministries. Each year Outreach for Hope holds three bike rides. These rides are its biggest fundraisers of the year. Grace is the host site for the ride in Ozaukee County on Saturday morning, September 7. Last year Grace had the biggest group of riders participating in the Ozaukee County ride. Let's do that again!

We will also be looking for volunteers who can help with the morning's events and the lunch we will serve to all the riders. You will be able to sign up to help with this starting on August 11.
There is an Easy Way to Help Grace Earn Extra Money! Have You Signed Up for the Scrip Program?
There is an easy way to help Grace earn money - please tell me more!! Grace has recently joined the Scrip program. The Script program? What is that? And how will it help Grace?
When you sign up for the Scrip program and shop as you normally shop at participating stores, you can help give hundreds of dollars each year to Grace. It is that simple!
How do you sign up? Well it is easy, just go to and sign up. You will need to use our organization code (LECAL22F63645). You can also do it on the Scrip app on your phone.
How does it work?
  • After you sign up, you go onto the Scrip app on your phone or log into your scrip account on your computer, look at the ALL of the stores that participate.
  • Once you find the stores you shop at you can order a gift card.
  • Gift cards come in two forms: Physical gift card or E-gift card. Choose what kind you would like to have & place your order.
  • If you choose an physical gift card, you need to place your order (on your scrip site) by the 3rd Sunday of the month at 12:00 p.m.
  • They will be delivered to church & can be picked up later that week. E-gift cards will come directly to your Scrip wallet on your app & usually are available to use that same day.
How do you pay? There are two ways to pay for your Scrip orders. You can write a check to Grace Lutheran Church (put your check in Chantal Murack's church mailbox) or you can sign up to use PrestoPay (Scrip's online payment). You just choose your payment type when you check out.
How does it help Grace? Every time you purchase a gift card or e-gift card a percentage of the purchase goes to Grace. So if you shop at Pickn' Save buy a Roundy's gift card. Roundy's has a 4% donation. So if you buy a $100 gift card that means Grace earns $4.00! Can you imagine if everyone at church joined how much money we could earn just by shopping!!

Hello, Women of Grace!
Wishing you could get away for a mini-vacation? We've got your ticket!
WonderFull World is an unforgettable travel-themed retreat the women of our church are doing together. It includes worship, Bible study, and time for laughter as well as time for quiet reflection.
At WonderFull World we'll "travel" to each of the seven continents. While there, we'll explore wonders of a woman's heart, such as "I wonder if I matter to God" or "I wonder where God is when life is hard." We'll find the answer to each of these questions in the Bible and discover more of God's amazing love for us.
We'll leave early on Saturday, September 21 and be home by noon on Sunday, September 22. Our retreat will be held at the beautiful and comfortable Evergreen Lodge at Pine Lake Camp in Waupaca, and the cost is only $100 per person! This covers all the supplies, fun and refreshing activities, and comfortable lodging. We usually work together bring our own meals to share- the lodge has a kitchen everyone signs up to bring something. We eat very well!

Grace Quilters
Even though the quilting group has taken some time off during the summer, some of us are still creating quilts getting ready for the fall shipment to Lutheran World Relief, other needy persons and our fall sale. Therefore, we are always in need of material to help us create the quilts now and in the future.   Sheets are needed for the back of the quilts. The sizes we need are twin - flat, full- fitted and flat, queen - flat and fitted and lastly king size - flat and fitted, plain or patterned. Cotton blend is preferred as opposed to polyester or microfiber. Other yard goods are always welcome to help us make beautiful tops for those quilts you will be able to purchase this fall at a cost of $25 each. Recently, we received some very lovely material from several of you along with dollar donations. We are so thankful to all of you who have contributed to this very worthy cause.
Mark Your Calendars for Rally Sunday!
Summer is in full swing, but school is just around the corner.  Mark your calendars for Rally Sunday, the first day of Sunday School, on Sunday, September 8.  Sunday School students entering 3K-5th grade AND their parents will participate in Rally Sunday together.  JYG (6th-8th grade) and HYPE (9th-12th grade) students will meet in their rooms.  Education Hour runs from 9:15-10:15 each Sunday.  Registration will take place on Rally Sunday.  Questions?  Contact Katie at
"God's Work Our Hands" Food Packing Project
Starting on Sunday, August 11, you will be able to sign up to participate in our activities for "God's Work Our Hands" day of service on Sunday, September 15. This year, in addition to other service activities, we are planning on one very big activity to be held at church. We will be working to recruit forty volunteers who will package 10,000 meals for "Rise Against Hunger", an international aid organization. This will be done after our lunch.
This project costs $3,400. We are looking for people who might be generously willing to help with part of the cost for this.
The Grafton Habitat for Humanity Build is ON!
We received word late last week that construction is finally set to begin on the duplex that will be built behind the Sendik's in Grafton. Groundbreaking will take place in late August with work crews helping on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting in September. So, for all of you who signed up to help back in early spring, we will soon have opportunities where you can volunteer to work on the construction efforts or to provide meals for the workers. We will have new sign-up sheets ready as soon as Habitat assigns us some dates.
Join the ALC for Its Annual Spelling Bee
You're invited to the Adult Literacy Center's third annual Spelling Bee, Friday, September 6 at the River Club of Mequon!  Join the ALC for an evening of delicious food and an exciting adult spelling bee.  Come with a spelling team or as an individual spectator.    Find out more information online at  Did you know that last year's spelling bee winners were a group from Grace?!  Who's going to be the big winners this year?  Join us to find out!
Join Grace's Team to Fight to End Alzheimer's Disease!
Please consider joining our team on the Walk To End Alzheimer's on Oct 5, 2019 at the Veteran's Park in Port Washington.  Registration opens at 8:30am and the walk starts at 10am.  
In the past, they have also had information regarding Alzheimer's and other dementia, caregiving tips, other booths pertaining to Alzheimer's and FOOD!
I have put a poster on the Community Bulletin Board with more details about registering.   You can register by mail, phone, online, or on the day of the walk.   If you can't walk, consider a sponsoring one of our walkers.

RNT Event on August 8th
Our August event will be music in "Grafton's Veteran Park" on Thursday August 8th. We will be enjoying music by the "Loving Kind" a '60s' & '70s' classic rock group. The band begins playing around 6:30pm so you might want to be there by 6:00pm.There is food and beverages for sale or you can bring your own. Operation Christmas Child Shopping Reminder
It will soon be time to fill the boxes for Operation Christmas Child. So while you are out school supply shopping, grab a few extra items to use in your boxes! Children all over the world will appreciate this gesture.

Mt. Meru Coffee Project is celebrating 20 years! 
Your efforts have been helping to improve the standard of living for the coffee farmers of the Meru Diocese in Tanzania for 20 years. The increased income to these farm families is being used to educate their children, to access needed health care, and to support their congregations. Meru Coffee is Available for Purchase in the Gathering Space Several varieties of coffee are now available for immediate purchase.  Please complete the order form, include cash or check made payable to the Mt. Meru Coffee Project and deposit in the slotted lock box provided.  If you do not find the type of coffee you need, please complete an order form as the coffee will be restocked monthly.  Regular, decaf, or flavored coffee sells for $10.00/12 oz. bag. Drip and perk grinds as well as whole bean and single-serve cups are available.

Grace has signed up for an amazing fundraising opportunity at Papa Murphy's in Grafton.  If a Grace member takes a bulletin to Papa Murphy's in Grafton on Sundays, Grace will get back 20% of the cost of the purchase as a donation from Papa Murphy's.  This is an easy and delicious way to support Grace Programs. 
Here are the steps:
1.  Take a bulletin with you when you leave church on Sunday
2.  Order pizza over the phone, online (do not pay online) or in person
3.  Go to Papa Murphy's in Grafton 1965 Wisconsin Ave Suite 102, Grafton
4.  Show them your bulletin
5.  Pay for your pizza
6.  Enjoy your pizza!
