Please note: the Celebration of Life Service for Bill Davis will be held at Grace tomorrow, September 7th, at 11am. We invite you to join Bill's family and friends for the service and a reception afterwards. More information can be found further down in this e-news.
This week's Grace Notes is jam-packed with great info on what's going on in our congregation and community! With fall programming starting up, there's a lot to share.
Be sure to check it all out so you don't miss anything!
Coming September 18th: Children's Word Time

Starting in two weeks, we will be introducing Children's Word Time (CWT) as part of our Sunday worship services!
CWT is an opportunity for our 8-and-under members to worship at their own developmental level, during the WORD portion of the service (leaving the Sanctuary after the prayer of the day and returning for the peace).

A pastor and a volunteer will lead the children in Scripture, prayer, music, theater, games, and/or crafts so that they can learn the day's Scripture lesson in ways most helpful to them. CWT will take place in the nursery, where worship from the Sanctuary will also be streaming.

We need adult volunteers to help with CWT! The pastor will provide and direct the lesson; the volunteer helps the children connect and engage. In addition to providing safety and leadership, the adult volunteer shows our children that they are valued and that their faith is important - important enough that another adult would come worship in CWT with them. These connections make a lifelong difference in the faith of our children. If you'd like to volunteer with CWT, please click here.
Children and Youth Sunday School

This fall we are offering age-based Sunday School classes for our children and youth; we are excited to try some fun new curriculum with our younger kids!

The 2 year old through 8th grade classes will be led by a rotation of adult leaders, and we are excited to see you soon!

Our 2 year-olds through Kindergartners will be exploring God's Word through Whirl
Our 1st through 4th Graders will be diving into scripture with Holy Moly
Our 5th through 8th Graders will be growing in faith with CONNECT
Our 9th - 12th Graders will join Pr. Gregg on Sunday mornings for SALT - Scripture and Liturgical Tradition

Each Sunday, we’ll talk about current events & everyday issues, exploring how Scripture and our liturgical tradition shape the way in which we view life all around us.
Women's Bible Study - led by Ruth Wasserman
The Women’s Bible Study Class meets on Sunday morning between services in room 106, during the school year. This group of women have been using the GATHER magazine bible study to guide their adventures into God’s Word. This magazine is produced under the ELCA and the writers of the magazine include various ELCA Pastors and other contributors who are connected to the ELCA. The current bible study is “Crafted in Christ”. This study was released this past summer, but we are going to use it to start our fall study. Women of all ages are welcome to this class. Please feel free to join us when we start back up on Sept 18th or anytime you would like to drop in.
Adult Bible Study - led by Bob Wasserman
From Bob: I am excited to be your leader in the Adult’s Bible Study. Our bible study is part of the KERYGMA program.

The book that we are studying is Good News for All: The Gospel of Luke. We are set to begin the 6th session “Ministry in Galilee: Teaching”.

Luke’s Gospel speaks to all people. The good news is for the outcast and the establishment, for the faithful and those who are searching. Luke writes to deepen faith and inspire action.
Men's Class - led by the group

The Men's Bible Study has just begun a new book, "Minor Prophets, Part 1" so now is a great time to join! The men's class runs all year.

The men of the class informally take turns leading discussion each week. Floyd Ritchie shares that they're really enjoying this new study, since the minor prophets are lesser-known scripture for many people.
Adult Conversation Class

The adult conversation class is a more informal gathering, centered on weekly conversation topics. This class uses the ELCA's weekly Faith Lens study to launch conversation each week, connecting the day's scripture readings with current events.

With a new topic each week, this class is great for those who aren't here each Sunday - it's easy to jump right into the conversation. That said, we'd love to see you each Sunday for a new conversation!
Sunday Morning Hospitality returns September 18th!

Sunday Morning Hospitality at Grace is coming back! Between services on Sundays, we will gather for light refreshments and fellowship. Hospitality hosts make this possible by providing refreshments, setting up, and cleaning up. We need your help in hosting!

You can sign up as a household, or consider joining with friends to serve. If you haven't hosted before, or it's been a while, we'd be glad to share a how-to to help - it's pretty simple! Thank you for being part of this Grace ministry of connection!

Please click here to sign up to host on a Sunday morning. If you have questions, please contact Pr. Rachel.
