Return to Church Updates

This will help us maintain accurate records for communications regarding service RSVP, cancellations, etc.

Our first public worship service at Grace
will be in the Garden on
Sunday August 2 at 9:15am

Due to COVID19 gathering restrictions,
there is a limit to the number of people
we can allow to attend.
We also need to keep contact tracing records.
Therefore we MUST have an RSVP.

Please click the red RSVP button below to let us know how many people in your family/group will be attending (this includes adults & children).

You do not need to signup for or join anything to RSVP
  • If you would like to attend, but remain in your vehicle, you do not need to submit an RSVP.
We ask that you park along the side parking lot
(where we hold the garage sale).
Rolling down your windows you should be able to hear the service.

  • Service will begin at 9:15am outside in the Garden. Please arrive early for temperature taking.

  • Please bring a chair and any weather related items
you will want (sweater, umbrella, etc).

  • Due to COVID19 gathering restrictions, there is a limit to the number of people we can allow to attend.

  • In the event we need to cancel due to poor weather conditions and/or virus spikes in our area, you will be contacted.

  • Please do not socialize before/after service as we must observe the 6-foot social distance guideline.

  • Any questions or concerns regarding the RSVP process, please contact Lydia or Tracey Larson.

Staying Safe at Grace
We are asking everyone who is at Grace for any reason to use available sanitizing products to clean up after themselves. It would help a lot to get donations of paper towels, Lysol or Clorox spray, Lysol or Clorox wipes, large hand sanitizer bottles and tissues. You may drop these off whenever the office is open. As you may have discovered, it is hard to order these online or in bulk, but then are often available in stores. Thanks so much for your help!

Please Remember to Give
We greatly appreciate you continuing your financial support to Grace.
If you have continued to send in your pledge, THANK YOU !

The staff and volunteers are working hard behind the scenes at home finding ways to keep in contact, to stay connected and to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Thanks to those who have made extra donations to support our outreach to needy families.

Possible ways to continue your support:
* mail a check to the church (we still have staff picking up the mail)
* donate online

REMEMBER: Another way to support Grace is by making your purchases through Just go here and shop!:

And yet another way is by linking your Kroger card to Grace Port Huron. You go online to sign up and a percentage of you purchase goes to support Grace.

The Cares Act includes some new incentives for charitable giving, for people who don't itemize and for those who do. You can read about that here.
Grace Connecting
through ZOOM
One of the things we all miss while sheltering at home, is seeing everyone on Wednesdays, Saturdays and/or Sundays. Lydia is going to host a "zoom" gathering on August 5th 10:00am to 11:30am.

To participate you need a smartphone, tablet or computer, ideally with a built in microphone and camera. You don't need to be one of the Wednesday regulars. Anyone who would like to ask questions, talk, pray is welcome.

Topic discussion for this week Zoom mtg:
Matthew 14:22-33 Jesus Walks on Water

Annual Garage Sale - Postponed
Many of you have been bringing in donations for the Annual Garage Sale since last August and probably others have spent Corona time cleaning closets and deciding to give away things that don't spark joy.

Unfortunately, for the safety of volunteers and shoppers, we are postponing the garage sale until safer times. You can keep bringing your donations, however.

Meanwhile, we are looking for someone to donate a storage space, since our garage will soon be overflowing!

We also wonder if there is anyone who has a clever idea about selling online. That would involve identifying some items that seem worth the effort and selling them online.

If you can help, please contact Mary Gale McPharlin.

Week 4 ~ Room to Fall
July 27-31

Then David took his staff in hand, and chose five smooth stones from the river valley, and put them in his shepherd's bag...
1 Samuel 17:40

Goliath looked unbeatable, and the sight of a young kid without armor or sword approaching the great giant must have been laughable to the Philistines - and terrifying to the Israelites! But God can make a way out of no way - and the biggest problems we face today can be occasions for taking heart, having courage, and getting to work. Goliath's gonna fall!

What are the Goliath-sized problems we face today,
both personally and globally?
How do YOU gather courage and hope
needed to face challenges that seem impossible?

Please contact Mrs. Larson if you have any questions.

Opening Prayer
God of love, we are grateful for all the gifts you give us. Help us to share with others. Amen .”

Read the Gospel story Matthew 14:13-21
◆ Jesus has compassion on those who hunger and feeds them with five loaves and
two fish.
◆ God’s generosity inspires wonder and gratitude.

Art - Visual Meditation
◆ draw yourself at a meal with Jesus.
◆ Consider different possibilities:
  • the Eucharist
  • a family meal
  • a meal with the homeless
  • the meal in today’s gospel

◆ Make bread together. An easy bread recipe can be found here . Maybe you share the loaves you make with others.

◆ Play go fish

Sing and/or play the hymn Hope of the World , reflecting today’s theme.

Close with prayer
" Lord, Thank you for using whatever we have for your will. Please help us to trust in You and let our lives be used for your glory. We know you will always provide and make great things out of small things. Thank you for miracles. Thank you for your love.
Amen ."
Please share with Mrs. Larson what you are up to at home!
We'd love to see your smiling faces!
And maybe you'll see yourself on Grace's Facebook page!
